Active viewport completely black

Hello.

Why does the active viewport  go completely black when I add a light on Texture Shaded mode and similar?

Thank.

Initially, there are no light sources in your scene. The reason you can still see objects in the Viewport without any lights is because the Perspective View Camera has its "headlamp" turned on.

In the "Render Settings Pane > Editor Tab > General > Auto Headlamp" settings, if it's set to "When No Scene Lights," the camera's headlamp will turn on when there are no explicit lights (like Spot Lights) in the scene. However, if you add explicit lights, the camera's headlamp will turn off.
When the camera's headlamp is off, objects will only be visible if other light sources illuminate them. Otherwise, they will appear black.

For explicit camera nodes, you can control the headlamp's on/off state in the "Parameters Pane > Headlamp > Headlamp Mode."

If you turn off Preview Lights (cmd/ctrl L  or in the Window menu) you will get a non-rendering pseudo-headlamp regardless of the Auto-headlamp setting.
