Returning with some questions.

It's been....so long. However I have the urge to create with Daz again. I miss it, it was so much fun to use.

I have some questions though before I get started and I apologise beforehand if these are answered somewhere. I couldent find it.

Can I install Daz and the content library on an external drive? How easy is this to do? Can I do it directly form the installer program?

Also I ahve a ton, a metric ton of very old content. Will they still work in the modern Daz?  I mean stuff like M3, M4 even Dave...no number, just Dave.

Oh and one more...I am remdering on a latptop, a gaming laptop so it has very good specs. I know I cant do the hours long ultra renders but if anyone has any advice for laptop rendering I'm all ears.

It's good to be back!

You can definitely install DS and the content on an external drive. You would do that by changing the installation paths in DIM, and then adding the directory where you installed the content as a content directory in DS preferences.

As for your very old content, yes most of it will still work in recent versions of DS.

Yes, both Daz Instal Manager (recommended) and the stand-alone installers allow you to set paths for applications and for content.

Almost al old Poser content will work, though the materials may need some work (and any Daz Studio native materials are likely to be for 3Delight, not Iray).

Are you planning to use Iray or 3Delight? For iray the GPU may be able to do the work, depending on model and how much memory it can access. 3Delight is CPU only.

Thank you both so much! heart

Ohhh Iray or 3Delight....I have to rember again what those are...looks like I have to begin re-learning Daz3d! I think I will probably use 3Delight...if my memory serves me thats what I use to use...hmmm

Also excited to use that cool new Install manager. I rember manual installs for every, single, item...so happy it's all in one program now. O_O
