Daz changes the subD of genesis 8.1 characters randomly
Hello,
It's been a week I have a strange behavior in my Daz software. Times to time, when loading a scene, the subD level (I usually have it to 1 and 2minimum or 3 sometimes, I don't understand what it means) changes to 2 / 5 and hence make my rendering taking forever to start (around 4minutes blocked in "Retrieving geometry" which is very long compared to the usual 10-20seconds).
I saved my character with 1-3 configuration, saved the scenes with all characters with 1-3 but sometimes, not always, the subD changes to 2-5.
Do you know what is the cause of this ? Can I provide you something ?
I've tried to read this thread :https://forum.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/673996/subd-level-changes-arbitrarily but it seems to have been deleted.

Most likely a character you are using has its shape linked to add 1 to the division level (which determines how many times the algorithm dividies each polygon into four, so 3 gives 64 times as many polygons and 4 gives 256 times as many polygons).
Thank you for the explanation, I didn't knew this one. Now, is there a default configuration somewhere that forces this parameter to 2-4 (or 2-5) instead of my classic 1-2 (or 1-3) ? What can I do to stop having to check this on every characters each time I open a scene ?
If it happens without a character aplied, to al newly loaded figures, then it is probably soemthing incorrectly set up - there has been at least one character that did that, so the first thing to do would be to check for updates to your currently installed content.
It happens now everytime I load a female chracter, not on male characters. When i save a scene it changes back everytime I load it, and every time I load a new female character. Doesn't DAZ has a global parameter for this ? How an isolated content can change my whole schenes and characters ?
OK, by desing if a morph is saved with a non-zero value it loads that way, there isn't a global list. Try Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure Shape, confirm that is what you want, then (assuming the shape is right) File>Save As>Support Assets>Save Modified Assets, in the dialogue that opens make a note of what is selected (e.g. take screensot or two) and Cancel (you might break something with some of these). One (or more) of the properties listed should be the culprit - try zeroing them in he Parameters pane until you find which.
It only displays me the data/.../Daz3D/Genesis/Female8.1 (basic female from daz studio). I'm sorry I don't know where this is going.
What I understand from what you explained to me is there might be a morph on 8.1 (or 8) females that changes de subD level of characters to work well. When I load a F character, the morph loads and changes the sudB level, right ?
So I should find the culprit. I will try to simply find the culprit by judging from where it started to mess up and what packages I installed. Thank you for taking your time on this Richard.

Hello !
Thanks crosswind, I didn't know you can access it by removing the forum word. It works.
Just wanted to say that what Richard indicated me to do should have worked because indeed, a morph loaded at the same time of the character were changing the subD. If I couldn't find out which one using your technique, you put me on the good tracks to identify it.
So I tracked when it started to occur and found which package I installed around this date. One of them contained morphs that changed the subD, I removed them and now I don't have any problem. So again, thank very much for helping me !
Best regards
