Content loading issue Fixing files after a HDD Crash

So I have a new HDD and have reinstalled all my DAZ files...(UGH...that took forever)

Now I'm trying to load some old scenes...expecting to have to load missing stuff of course...

I'm confused about some of my DAZ content that is on my new HDD loading as grey boxes...

I can see the icons in the content directory, and can show the content in the file location, but they still load a s grey boxes...

What am I missing?

A grey box essentially means it can't find the data files.

You say that you can see the icon in the content library - does that load correctly?

If, then it seems that the scene file has an issue with the path. When you saved the scene file was all the content in a content library?

Basically, you can open the scene file, and see at which path it is searching.

When I first loaded the scene and saw the boxes I went to the content manager and loaded the content from DAZ.

I still get the grey boxes.

The scene was saved before my HDD crash... so the drive letter is different for the rebuild, but I updated the paths in the content preferences.

    Other content does load correctly...

Do you get an error mesage? If not, how about in the log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File - check up from the end after trying to load)? How do you install your content?

The only error I had was for a .jpg file for an image on the wall...

The room and character loaded correctly, but the clothing all shows up as grey boxes...

I used Content Manager to reinstal all my DAZ content...

So, the cintent was installed through Daz Studio (if you meant to bring your old content across that may indicate a problem with the paths) and some of the files did not decrypt properly. The simplest fix would be to uninstall them (right-click on the product container in Daz Studio) and use the DIM vesions instead.

I installed it from DIM... Not sure why this comes up as DAZ Connect...

I navigate to the file and it shows my Q drive, but if i click on the duf it errors out...

I went a step further and downloaded the files manually...

    Same result

OKAY.... I got something to work...

I had to delete the file from the DAZ Connect library and reinstall it.

I also could not get the offline Daz Connect file process to work though...

It would not work with the DIM files...at all...

    I have no idea why.

If the database shows the product as installed through Connect then that is whjat it will use, you must Uninstall that befoe you can use the DIM/manual install.

It would be a good idea to use only 1 download method, of course though, it doesn't apply to bonus characters from Premier memberships which install through Connect only.
