Update categories in 2025?

The methods I used to use for updating categories of stuff from the store don't seem to work anymore. I've got two products in my library that are bothering me in particular, one of which has created a top-level category called "Materials" instead of using the "Materials" category under "Default" and the other of which has slotted three of its many poses into a top-level category called "Poses" (again, instead of just slotting them into the "Poses" category under Default).

Short of uninstalling the offending products, is there anything I can do to get rid of the errant categories these days? Or has that functionality been removed from the program?

Smart Content categories will hide themselves if they do not contain anything. So if you fix the categories for the assets that have fallen out of the default versions it should fix the issue. Although you'll probably have to right click and refresh the smart content pane.

  • The trouble I'm running into is that I fix the categories, click OK, and then nothing happens. When I go back in to see if my changes took, I find that my changes have been reversed/ignored.

Oh. Are you definitely removing it from the "bad" category? You can try clicking the "Remove from All Categories" button and then assigning the correct one to see if that works? Don't forget to right click on the pane where the categories are listed (not on any actual category) and click the Refresh link that pops up.

Also, are you signed into your Account on Daz Studio? I know that if you do that it will update (and so potentially reset) your changes on start-up but I don't think it does it in real time.

You may try this way: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8933676/#Comment_8933676

In case the categories set for content are stubborn, i.e. they're marked as IsVendor in cms, you have to modify the metadata DSX files... and re-import them.

Thank you. I'll give that a try.
