That annoying X that means I cannot select parts of the figure

Somehow, I have a g9 figure and he has the x selected by the arrow up by the model name. I know that with this selected, I cannot use my cursor to pick individual parts of the figure. I have clicked and clisked, but the x won't go away. Aside from clicking, is there some other way to remove it?

    That is tied to the Display -> "Selectable (in Viewport)" setting in the Parameters tab with the figure selected in the scene. You should be able to get rid of the x by switching it back to "On"

    SO this is wierd but when I find that option and I try to turn it from off to on, it says on and then goes back to off????

    OK, I got it to work, there is a button that makes it ovveride controllers and that had been selected. How I don't know.

    There shouldn't be any other reason but Selectable (in Viewport) is Locked ...

    I'm out of curiosity ~ which button did you refer to ?
