No more Poser for Mac?!

It has been announced that development on Poser for Mac is ending with P13. I figure I have two to four years before Poser risks becoming nonviable on Mac. I have continued to use Daz's Gen4 figures to this day because of my extensive library of content, but more than that, I use Poser's Animation Palette for my sequential art for my comics. I use each frame of my scene in Poser to reposition figures and cameras and I can batch render the images to create a scene for my comic books. I've put off learning DS for so long because I didn't know if I can emulate this workflow.

Does anyone know if there's a good workflow in DS for panel by panel sequencing? I could transition to newer figures and start using the library of content I've collected for the Genesis series, while still accessing my Poser content, but I need to know if it's worth the learning curve.

From your description, it sounds like you should be able to do the same thing in DAZ Studio, set up a scene, save as keyframes, move to next frame, adjust characaters, keyframe, etc.
You can always make a two- or three-frame test file and try importing it into DAZ Studio and see what comes across to evaluate how well it will work for you.

Yes, Apple have messed around with software developers - and specifically with OpenGL (which Poser uses for Preview) - so much that it's no longer possible to further develop Poser for Mac users.

A lot will depend on how much you use Poser's real-time Comic Book mode - which depends on OpenGL. If however you are rendering to full 3D for full-3D comics, then iRay and DAZ would be viable.

Before you get the workflow nailed down for DAZ, you will need to break it down into steps and then find the ideal script for each step. DAZ has scripts, the same as Poser. Sounds like you need a script or scripts that will set up new frames on at timeline and then auto-rotate figures / cameras per frame, then render out all the frames one by one.

Bear in mind that timeline and animation stuff may cost, as add-ons for DAZ. Last time I looked, getting the animation timeline fully up and running had a cost to it.
