Load G3F vs Load Character?

I've been using DAZ Studio for years so I should know the answer to this but it has always niggled at the back of my mind.
Is there a difference bewteen loading G3F and then applying materials and charater morphs (say Bethany) using the parameter dials, and just loading the pre-load character (i.e. click on Bethany 7 in the content)?
Some time ago I became convinced that the former method was better because it allowed better mixing of morphs (say, part V7 and part Bethany).

There is no difference, loading Bethany is simply a convience in that it also pre-loads her skin and morph. If you loaded G3F at the start, and then applied Bethany's skins and morphs it would be identical to loading Bethany directly. None are more or less flexible than the other. There used to be a minor difference in that Bethany's morphs were not displayed in the current morphs when she was loaded directly, but I think that stopped being the case in DS 4.7 (not sure which version to be honest)
Thanks - that clears up that question. :)
The only other minor difference is what exactly the figure is called in the scene Heirarchy - "Genesis 3 Female" or "Bethany".
Indeed, but you can easily change that name yourself in either case.
Yes, as I always do :)
One difference is that loading the character preset will, if I am remembering correctly, memorise that state so that if you use the Restore commands it will restore to Bethany; applying the shape preset to a plain G3F restore will go back to G3F.
Ahh - well spotted Richard. Yes - I did notice that yesterday (using zero figure shape) and was a bit annoyed. Nevertheless, I rarely use the default character anyway - whether G3F, V7 or Bethany - I always use them as a starting point and modify to suit my own tastes. So I guess I should memorise my modified fugure shape?
What version of Studio are you using? Zero figure shape works in the latest version for me.
I'm using 4.9. What I mean is that I had a modified (morphed) character which started out as G3F and then had Bethany dialled in along with some other parameters. When I clicked Zero Figure Shape, it defaulted back to standard G3F. After Richard's observation, I've just tried the Memorise Figure Shape option and it now remembers my modified shape if I click Restore Figure Shape (but not Zero - that will revert back to standard G3F).
Understood.
