Understood. But.. A ballpoint - Gaah! wink

OK, I'm as guilty as anyone, making a model of a ballpoint myself blush. However, I paid my dues and made a model of a cheap fountain pen after that to compensate.

    Regards,

    Richard

I should have just set the eyes individually to "target" the paper.  That would have corrected that I'm guessing.

I didn't even know you could do that till just now.  Boy have I been wasting time!  laugh

The Look At Me Pose Control series from Riversoft Art was an incredible buy.

I used to spend so much time getting characters to look at each other or look at objects.

    Dedicated to my friend Jack

    Space Crimes - Jack

This image is dedicated to my friend Jack I lost a couple of nights ago. He introduced me to photography, lighting and many other aspects of the art. And most importantly is that he was always there for me. I always bored him with Space Crimes so it was only fitting to place him into a scene with him as the photographer.

    I miss you Jack.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I highly doubt he was "bored" with Space Crimes; your concept and work are excellent and I'm sure he enjoyed Space Crimes as much as we do.

(RAW Render with 1 Edit) Madeline 4.0
    Madeline
     Madeline 2

The last couple of renders of Space Crimes included edits to Madeline. I've just been so unhappy with how AI images of the duo, or any output for that matter, look so realistic and my output from Daz Studio has been sorely lacking. Then factor in my frustration of taking Madeline from G8 to G8.1 to G9 utilizing graphs and legacy MAT's has been frustrating to say the least. Try applying lipstick and it ends up on her nose. FRUSTRATING!!!

Fast forward to the last couple of weeks. I created Mads from a default G9, tried using Face Transfer, edited the skin materials and just threw that all out. Utilizing 8K Mat skin from the Snow Queen HD character.

I'm torn, is this an improvement? Is this too different a look for Madeline? I'll try some "regular" renders with this version as a test run before I work on the re-work of John.

    Any thoughts?

Looks like you need to adjust her teeth (G9 mouth sliders) forward and up, perhaps width/size too.
     She is looking really good!

An improvement?  In terms of the amazingly detailed skin texture, absolutley.  But what about the important stuff, like posing and facial expressions?  Do you see any improvements there?  I myself am only just starting to work with G9 and can't say that I'm very happy with it.  But then I have an aversion to change when I get stuck in my ways.

I tried your suggestions and believe I like it a little better. Thank you for those suggestions!

I hear you and am frustrated with the G9 conversion as well with some aspects. I put all four versions of Madeline together into one scene and tried to get a "best" look. Ended up deciding to keep version 2, 3 and 4 and then switch between them as need be. This particular image is version 2.0 (Genesis 8.1) of Madeline which seemed to fit this scene best. I'll revisit "attempting" to create one to rule them all eventually.

    Madeline 2.0 /G8.1 (Not version 4.0 /G9)
    Madeline 2.0 (Not version 4.0)

    Last Stop Before the Rain

    Last Stop Before the Rain

Space Crimes- Last Stop Before the Rain

    The city was drowning.

Not in water but in broken promises, unpaid debts and all the things people swore they’d never do until they did. John had seen it all before, but it still pressed on him like a weight he couldn’t shake.

They’d been chasing ghosts all week. Leads that slipped through their fingers, witnesses who forgot how to talk, a killer who stayed two steps ahead. The kind of case that got under your skin and made you wonder if the city even wanted saving.

He’d told Madeline to go home hours ago. She hadn’t listened. She never did.

And now here she was, emerging from the rain like some impossible dream, hair darkened and slick, glasses spotted with droplets, dress clinging to her like it didn’t want to let go and it didn't bother her a bit.

“I found something” she said, voice low, almost drowned out by the rain.
“You always do” John replied stepping toward her.

They should have been talking about the case, about the file in her bag, about the danger closing in but the city had a way of stealing your time, your friends, your hope. And John was tired of letting it steal her.

She took his collar in her hands, rain sliding over both of them like it didn’t care who they were or what they’d done.
“You’re not getting rid of me that easy” she whispered.

He almost said something clever. Almost. But instead, his hands found her waist, pulling her close until their breath mixed, until the noise of the streets and the ache of the case faded into nothing.

The kiss was hungry, not of lust, but for time they didn’t have. For the moments stolen between danger and duty. For the truth they both felt but never said.

When she pulled back, her eyes searched his. “We finish this case John. Together. No matter what it costs.”

The rain hammered down harder. Somewhere in the city, someone screamed.
John just nodded. He’d walk through every shadow, every lie, every damn bullet if it meant keeping her by his side.

And if the city wanted to take her, it would have to take him too.

All assets and Madeline 4.0 information in link.

A BIG SHOUT-OUT to Richard of richardandtracy for creating a free Genesis 8/8.1 to 9 converter.  His tool saved me quite a bit of time when I determined that my Madeline v2 (Genesis 8.1) wasn't going to work in this scene. I just don't own any water droplets geo-shell items for 8.1. So, with the use of his tool, I was able to put Madeline v4 (Genesis 9) in place and really love the details of the neck and such for the scene.

    Thank you Richard of richardandtracy!!!

This image captures the feeling of a part of the novel story line.  It's not a scene that actually takes place.

Hey Thomas!  Do you remember I said I was going to "steal" your poses of John and Madeline embracing?  Well I've come to the point where I needed the scene for an upcoming chapter of Charlotte's Magic Life, and I'm going to post it on that thread.  But first I wanted to make sure you are ok with me also posting your original.

Your posing is brilliant @junk. I do wish I could get that sort of feel with couples poses. You seem to be able to instinctively get everything right. As for the pose transfer script - that's just the sort of thing it's there for. So glad it's been of use. Regards, Richard.

I'm a bit late, but it's a very nice tribute to your friend.

I especially like what you did with the third render, making us share the photographer's viewpoint by putting the subject in focus and letting him out of it.

I hope every memory you built speaking with him has helped and will continue to help you to deal with his absence.

    -----

I agree with richardandtracy, the way you pose your characters are great and feel 'natural' for a lack of a better word.

Oh man! Sorry for such a late reply. Yes, go ahead if you haven't already. I'll look and see if you have already posted it. Thanks for asking, but not necessary as you can see how bad I am with following up.

The Wrong Client - Space Crimes

Once again, I wanted to make try and make a comic book style front cover. No it's not a real comic, but just for fun.  Always fun, never turns out how I really wanted it to, which I think most everyone in the Daz world would agree with in your own creations.

NEWS: I finished most of the Space Crimes novel at this point. Having some friends read it to get some feedback for improvements, failures, etc. Hopefully soon, I'll get everything rock solid and release a full novel.

Hey thanks David! I went looking for the pose on your INCREDIBLE charlottesmagiclife.com website. Been there before but just seeing the amount of time, the work you put into it shows your love of it. It's a very believable story too done so well.

Was hoping to scope out where the pose was used but couldn't find it looking at mid August onward. Perhaps I skipped it accidentally.

If you have a direct date/page to look at, I'll be there.

The pose is in Part 19, which I will publish on Monday.  But if you want a sneak peak...
