Specular 2 color - what does it do?

Well, I can change values and color of the specular 2 color but nothing changes after rendering the scene, so what does the specular 2 color do?

    Hi, Cosmo,

I wondered about that, too and don't have an urgent need for a second specularity ;-) Maybe somebody can tell more about it and why it is there.

Settings are very subtle - try significant changes in color (f.e. Spec1 red, Spec 2 green) and glossiness/strength. Then you can see two different specular colors.

extract from http://www.omnifreaker.com/index.php?title=HumanSurface which covers what was not new in UberSurface http://www.omnifreaker.com/index.php?title=UberSurface

    Tips and Tricks

    • Use the 'Active' toggles to isolate the contribution of individual components. For example turn off the Basic Specular, Reflection, Diffuse, etc, when dialing in the size and sharpness of the Secondary Specular. This helps to make it more clear what the controls are doing. When you turn everything else back on, you then only need to worry about dialing in the Strength of the Secondary Specular.

From what I can sumise it can help with having a white highlight with \spec one and then underneath having Spec 2 a different colour spreading out from the white highlight from spec 1. I think I remember reading that ominfreaker said it was good for metals and that spec 2 colour was slightly lighter than the diffuse colour and spec 1 white.
