questions regarding iray render settings

I have 2 questions. One - How do you cancel an iray render before it calculates the whole scene? There are times I have clicked render by accedent, thinking I was on 3delight, and it starts rendering a scene I KNOW my computer cant handle on iray mode.... When I hit canel it completly ignores my request until the scene is fully loaded, caluculated, and ready to render.. And I know it will never reach that point... How do you stop it? I have lost about 6 scenes because of this.
Second question. How do you LOCK render settings, and what I'm currently using for a renderer? I cant count how many times I thought I was on iray, and it turns out, i loaded a DS prop, so it switched my settings, and visa versa... I do not like how it switches my renderer constantly, based on what i load into my scenes.. That's super annoying. I want ME to be in control of my render settings, not my props...

I haven't experienced a prop changing my render settings before but I have for some scenes. There is a setting under Preferences, on the Scene tab, Render Settings: Ignore when opening a Scene File that might be what you're looking for.
No clue, other than waiting it out...you can't cancel certain operations in 3DL, either, they'll keep going until finished.
Render settings are not something that should be saved with props...so if it is a store item, you should probably open a CS ticket about it, because it SHOULD be renderer neutral and not switch settings.
If it is a scene (either self created or from a store item) it may change the settings, but I'm not sure on that.
Something saved as a scene rather than a scene subset would contain the render settings as part of the scene.
What prop are you loading that is doing that? And, as stated, it's NOT a scene subset? You loaded it straight from the Smart Content or Content Library?
Yeah some are scene files, like my actors and a few things. Crazy Hotel has been known to change my settings, as well as Dimensional Theory props.
There's a few sets like that where they were made with .daz scene files. (I think I heard something about that being normal in an older version of Studio like 3 or earlier) Even when they don't change the render settings, I keep having the background color changed by the most random things because of that.
