Save or Die!

Really? This is the best sales campaign they could come up with? Threaten your customers with death unless they buy something?

Even for DAZ, that seems to be trawling the bottom of the barrel. Don't like it. Don't find it amusing.

Prison, torture, coffins, inquisition etc. Looking at the items explained to me what it meant. :)

I know what the theme is, what I find offensive is the reference to death linked with a suggestion to buy DAZ product.

  • I think things have been a bit touchy the last fortnight and too much being read into it as a result, unless connect only you probably will not die 5 days after seeing and not buying, can always wishlist in case. cheeky

I just thought it was tongue-in-cheek, meant to add a bit of levity to the drudery of a Monday. It's a pretty good bit of savings, if you happen to want one of the new releases and four of the related items. Adding a 4th to my cart made the cost go down. Haven't decided, yet, if I'll be buying though. Gonna sleep on it. see if I can talk myself out of spending the money. If not, I'll apply my PA coupon...

Well, not really... Theres only 1 new prison item. If you buy that then you get 30% off it and 40% off other prison items. However, if you wait for a 60% off PA sale, which come around all the time, then you could get most of those items for 60% off. I do have an interest in prison stuff, but I'd be more inclined to wait for one of those sales.

I've even seen things like the Prison Yard in Fast Grab before at 70% off.

Its good for people who want prison stuff and some other random unrelated items as well.

  • They certainly missed an opportunity to use these items for a DRM promotion.  Prison, dumpster, locks, coffin...

  • I was hoping from the title be more along the lines of creature creator 3, ghosts, creatures/monsters supernatural and dark fantasy hell knights/demons themes ok some of what's there fits but thought be more

  • the adventure girl outfit looks good for a biker chick and/or heavy metal lady looks bit like an outfit Lita Ford and others have worn as well as the coffins

I thought it had something to do with how the DAZ International Drone Network interfaced with DAZ Connect and how the new upcoming Platinum Inquisition Plus Club worked... But I guess it could be tongue-in-cheek... And probably not a threat... Right?

Besides, the DAZ International Drone Network won't really be in full swing until DS 5 and SkyNet go on line in a few months... And Hellfire missiles are too expensive to just be chucking about without full pinpoint accuracy.       I wouldn't worry about it.

    For now.

They could also have done "Save or get socked in the nose!" but that might infringe Hawaiian Punch's tactics.

And they could have "Save or get f....d" but I'm sure that would have offended a whole different community.  Personally I make sure that I never wear white socks for fear it might upset somebody.  Actually I never go out of my house because I know it upsets somebody.  And l thought that was safe until I got an email saying I spent too much time indoors.

That parallax effect on the background... awesome! The effects that the DAZ web team are capable of for promos is pretty top notch.

Thanks for the thread, and all the hilarious comments!!

Not saving either- so guess I'm dying too .

(good thing they didn't use LeatherGryphon's idea - the smiley for that would have been against the TOS)

Well, actually if you don't buy anything you are saving more. So, you may be safe.

Tsk.  Of course, 'save or die' is from roleplaying games where death often results from failing your saving throw.

Huh. I thought it was a reference to using any graphics program in Windows...

  • Save or Die...

I read that in religious terms, all people can understand different ways from the same context.

Marketing surely can come up with something better....  Maybe?    Death is kind of a poor sales tactic.  It is something we are all touched by, and is not really used well for sales humor.   Geez!

I also found that marketing trick pretty tasteless. Then again, I'm kind of jaded with daz after being greeted with a really obscene gesture the other month.

The rocker chick promo. Apparently the heavy metal horns hand sign means something else it other countries.

Life is to short to get offended by the language or image in a 3d marketing ad IMO
