IRender Materials: Fabrics, Materials and Dirt

OK. I bought theses. I installed them through Daz Connect. I was actually able to easily find them using the search bar. But nothing showed up in those tabs like Available. I think perhaps you have to selected a category. But I didn't know what category to select. Perhaps Materials. But would you need an object selected? It would also be nice if...once you install a product that somehow it changed from INSTALL to something else so you would know you have already installed it. When you have lots of products, who will remember what you have installed and what you haven't.

So now that I have them installed...how do I find them? How do I use them? I added a shirt and then clicked on Materials and none of these showed up. Maybe they don't display in the Smart Content. But how the heck do I find them in the Content Library?

Thanks.

  • If you installed through Connect it should lose the install icon. Since these are shader presets you do need an item and oen or more surfaces on the item selected to use them - the quick way is to use the Surface Selection tool.

Thanks, Richard. I did install these through Daz Connect, but it appears they have not installed properly. There is a video on the product page. It is the second one. In that video he shows where the shaders are suppose to located.

My Daz3d Library - Shader Presets - iray - Render material fabrics

I have a shirt in my scene. It is selected and I selected the body in the shader panel. He uses the Content Library to bring up the shader presets folder...

I have only on My Daz3d Library. I have two poser library. The one Daz created and the second one where I place non-daz products.

I just checked the physical location and the files are not there at all.

I am using the default locations that Daz established when I installed 4.8. I have not tinkered with them at all.

Perhaps I should re-install through DIM. Or maybe check up technical support.

You might try searching your hard drive for "IRender", (be sure to include the I), maybe it got installed somewhere else?  I haven't used Conntect yet and still use DIM for my installs so can't help you with Connect.

Mine installed right where it should but I used DIM not connect. Don't know if that makes a difference of not.

I tried installing with DIM and I have the folder now.

    Thanks.

  • Glad that you got it to work, happy rendering!

Files installed via Connect will not appear in the Content Library under DAZ Studio Formats, unless you find them in one of the other views (Smart Content or Products/Categories in the Content Library) and drag the files there (ctreating special DS shortcuts which you can then move in the Content Library pane or the OS file browser).

Thanks. I didn't know that. I found them now in the smart content. They were under Shaders/ Iray. Can't say for sure that they were there before I installed using DIM. But I assume so. But after watching the in store video, I'm not sure I would have thought to look there. But I might now that I've gained this experince.

I never thought of looking at the Products view. I thought that was just for purchases and downloads.
