youtube has some good videos that show you how to use photoshop / zbrush / mudbox for texturing .. there's a few other texturing programs out there, but I can't remember all their names. Blacksmith3D does textures too I think.

  • Textures are pretty easy to do if you are using Merchant resources. Just Place the files you have modified into the Textures folder for your Daz studio runtime under a name unique to you. Next Start out with a basic figure of the generation you will be using and add the textures you modifed in the Surfaces tab. Save your model, with your new textures and save often. Now comes the hard part. Adding morphs to make your model unique and making the presets so makeup and eyes can be changed. There is more to this but this are the quick and dirty basics.

Texturing people, or props, or buildings, or hair? Your own model or someone else's?

I have some of the human resources and some textures from 3d.SK. I wanted to try to create some of my own skin textures.

I see there are some tutorials for painting from a reference photo in Blacksmith. Is that what I want to do. Put the reference textures on the figure and then use the clone brush to paint the new textures over top.
