The G9 to G8 autofit is not out yet, but should be soon :)

I'm sorry Mada, but I'm a bit confused... We got G9 clone from new G8 packages and they work well. So, you mean there'll be further more powerful tools, templates even enhanced Auto Fit plugin or something ?

If so, that'll be be great !

Yes it will keep on getting better and better :) I didn't realise the clones were already out so that's a great step

Haha ~ that'll be very nice ! Thank you for the clarification ! yes

Thanks Crosswind, Mada.  I will wait for better tools to come out - Ones that  really get the whole dForce G9 Hair to G8 job done.  If I get the chance, I may try scripting Crosswind's fitting method.

  • I tried using the latest G8F/G9 Essentials (10/24/2024).  A straight G9 to G8F fit still does not work.  Crosswind's method gets the hair fitted, but simulation does not work.

As for the 1st issue, as long as you choose G9 clone when auto-fitting, it should work. You may name the product and/or post a screenshot of the issue you met.

As for the strand-based hair, you either go for the 2nd method I showed you last time. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8911401/#Comment_8911401

Or: in this way that I just learnt a couple of days ago : as shown in the attached screenshot ( I still used dForce Strand-Based Late Summer Bangs Style Hair for Genesis 9 in this case).

  • If I use your second, "export strand-based hair" method, I cannot load the exported object and create a morph in my target.

2nd method will do... as long as you do it correctly. 3rd method was learnt from a PA, it works nicely.

  • Thanks Crosswind.  Method 3 does not simulate for me, see attached.  Which version of DS are you using?  I am using the latest "production" version 4.23.0.1.

It works with DS 4.22.0.16 General Release and DS 4.23.0.4 Public Build.

I'm a user of DS dual versions (General Release + Public Build), so when General Release has the same version as Public Build (they were both 4.23.0.1 when they were released ~), I never update General Release... just in case.

Edit: Though I don't think there's big difference in between 4.23.0.1 and 4.23.0.4, suggest you try with DS 4.23.0.4 Public Build.

It appears that the latested version of DAZ (4.24.03) Autofits does not work to go from G9 to G8 for either clothing or hair.  It either crashes or the asset doesn't fit properly for the clothing and the hair.  Am I the only one having this issue?

I just saw this thread but already made my own autofit clone shapes soon after G9 came out

    (not just for G8 either)

assuming not working yet by the thread

I just tested with two Genesis 9 clothing items and I was able to autofit them on G8F without crash, using the Genesis 9 autofit clone made by Daz.

I don't know why Daz Studio is crashing on your end.

How do you use the the "Genesis 9 autofit clone made by Daz"?

@WendyLuvsCatz - how do you make your own autofit clone?

My current procedure is to simply try a G9 hair (dForce AK Long Hair) on a random G8 Female (JASA Lydia in this example) and then use the autofit Dialogue (figure Genesis 9, Type - Hair - shoulder length). But when I try to simulate, I get the "error preparing objects to simulate and collide" message. 4.24.0.3 is the version.

Genesis 9 you chose from Autofit dialogue is just the Genesis 9 autofit clone made by Daz...

Different methods are adopted for different products.... as for dForce AK Long Hair,  Autofit breaks its dForce modifier (no matter what Clone you use...), you have to go for the way of parenting if you still need to simulate it. Check this post:

its much easier than previous figures because the base doesn't have mouth, eyes etc

sadly Catherine has removed her tutorials again so I cannot link that which is probably better than the way I do it

however since DAZ apparently has one according to this thread I will only fluff around trying to explain it after having no luck with Google finding where I previously explained it blush

...if you cannot get the new DAZ Studio option to work

the D|S option is likely better and I only did one for G8M, I autofit from him to G8F

Ah thanks! That is working. I load the hair and then parent it to the head and I have to adjust the Z and Y for the hair but seems to work OK.
