I installed Postgress CMS and it does nothing.

There's nothing.  After a database reset and reimport metadata... nothing.  No Smart Content.

I've never used it before, and I've only manually managed installs as per Daz instructions.

Is there a manual?  What does it do?  How do I tell if its working?

When you open Daz Studio, and open the Preferences, you should have a tab for Content Library. Click on the Content Library Manager.  You should see a set of trees; one for Daz Studio content libraries, one for Poser runtimes, and one for other things.  Check each content library and each runtime to make sure that it is pointed to the right place.  It is very important that you select the interior of the folder. You can also choose a new place for the database for Daz Connect if you want.  This is how CMS knows where to look.   Now reset database and reimport metadata; the CMS should look in those folders as well as the Install Manager download folder (filled with plump little manifest files) to give you Smart Content.

The database and source files are all there.  I can traverse the Content Library easily.

Reset database and reimport metadata does nothing. There is no smart content.  No errors.  No nothing. No instructions.  Nothing.

Does anything show up in Content Library > Products?

  • UHFUHF Posts: 518

    No products.

Can you locate the manifest files for your products? Thier format is something like IM00000some_number_DazProduct.dsx... the question is where are those .dsx files?

There's no manifest files.  What are those?

    How can you tell?

Sometimes I have noticed that the database has to be reset twice in a row before trying to import the metadata--after the first reset, the default categories will be missing from the library pane so the metadata import fails (though looks like it completes successfully).  On the second reset, the issue is corrected.  Then the import of the metadata works.

On the manifest files (metadata), you probably need to check your main content path\runtime\support folder and see if all the *.dsx files are in it.

You might try your Windows Services (assuming you're using Windows) and make sure that the Daz Content Manager service is "started".  If not, close Studio and force the service to start, then open DAZ, monitoring the service to make sure that it stays started and doesn't crash.  (If you don't know how to get to the services screen, try going to the Windows Search bar and type Services.

That service is the old Valentina CMS, PostgreSQL CMS doesn't run as a service.
