Adding to the 4.9 confusion

I'm not understanding this new 4.9 edition. According to my product library I've had 4.9 since Feb 2012....but my edition of Studio when opened states I have 4.8.0.59 edition, I remember downloading the Iradium upgrade to be able to use Iray. DIM does not offer me anything to upgrade to this new 4.9 that is on the shop page. New graphic design indicates a new version to me. So am I really using and have been using 4.9 since the Iradium upgrade if so, why does my Studio state 4.8,0,59 when I select "about DAZ Studio" inside the program. 

To get the new 4.9, it asks me to register, wanting name and email etc, and then it kicks me out to my product page where there is nothing except my recent purchases. 

DIM doesn't have anything under the Ready to Download tab to indicate a Studio upgrade. The Installed tab already has 4.9 listed in there and states it was packaged on 1-19-2016 and again, my edition of Studio says 4.8.0.59....not 4.9. 

I have products under the Ready to  Download tab that about 12 items are upgrades, but DIM lists Failure to Download with each item it tries to download. 

Edited: I ended up having to manually download the 4.9 edition, as DIM was not going to do it. Took a while to download, probably close to 30 minutes or more and then when I installed it, it notified me that I had a previous edition and now it is in the process of updating files from 4.8 or something.

    Your problem may be related to the servers being hammered...

    That is a good possibility. I manually downloaded 4.9 and installed it. Started up DIM recently and got a message about updating Studio, etc. Just trying to update 1 item via DIM and I am noticing KB/s goes from 200's all the way to zero and I'm like 28% done downloading 1 update so I might just hold off on updating and downloading new content until things settle down.

    Yeah - the servers are really being hammered - one of the DAZ people mentioned that 4.9 is being grabbed far more heavily than they expected. I'm downloading via google gigabit fiber at Starbucks - and seeing a download speed in the 200 K bps range. I my just hng it up and try tomorrow.

    I just warned of this in another thread... DS 4.9 has already hooked up with SkyNet and has made a time machine and sent a DS-T-1000 back to 2012 to install a copy of itself on your computer so it can foil Kyle Reese's plan to destroy DAZnet before it begins...

    This makes me sad that I didn't convince the Studio Devs to label the first status bar message of grabbing metadata as "Searching For Sarah Connor"

     

    ... such squandered opportunities.
