DAZ Studio 4.9 - question on downloading and installing

How do I have to download and install DAZ Studio 4.9 64 bit pro without getting lost of DAZ Studio 4.8 64 bit pro?

    I installed 4.9 and it didn't give me an option of where to install it to, it appeared on my Desktop. The only thing I got was the popup asking if it was okay to install it.

    However, I don't have 4.8 in the normal place, so I knew when I installed it that it wouldn't override it anyway. (My 4.8 is in D drive.)  I'm going to go check and see where it installed to. It kept all my custom categories, no problem!  I'll be back in a minute to tell you where it installs to.

    I was asking because of the two options they wrote on the promo page, downloading and installing or updating. Downloading and installing means to me, that DAZ 4.8 will not be overwritten or deleted, updating means to me that daz4.8 will be overwritten and turned into das 4.9

    Well, I found it in the Desktop folder, right clicked and browsed to location, and what a surprise- it's inside my 4.8 studio folder. I renamed mine, so not much help, but yes, not only did it keep my 4.8 when the 4.9 was installed, it's foldered with it.

    NOPE. You'll have both (based on my experience, which is all I can tell you.) Again, it didn't give me the option where to put it, which made me wonder- but that's why, it used where I had put the 4.8 version. Smart!

    have you downloaded and installed it or updated via DIM?

    You will not have both if you are installing with DIM.  If you want to have a back-up of DS4.8 you will need to find its zip file in DIM's download folder and copy it to a new and safe location on your hard drive.

    That I have done some time ago. Means I have downloaded the zip from the product page and saved it on an external HD and also on the HD on my machine, so I have to zips from the product page, hope this is right.

    Cosmo, why don't you ask questions like that in the Official thread, where the Daz_Peeps are around to answer, instead of starting your own thread
