Post your good vendor stories!
As part of my job, I deal with physical vendors, many of whom deal in exclusive items, such as reproduction parts for classic cars. Some of them are real assholes (Can I say that here?)
You would think that someone who deals with customers face-to-face would be more polite that someone who's customer interaction is exclusively online, but that's not the case. The vendors here at DAZ seem to be a pretty good bunch of people... case in point:
I have a webcomic, and the other day I realized that it just wouldn't be complete without the many products created by Maclean in his (her?) Everyday series. In fact, I've bought about 75% of his creations. So, since I was in a good mood, I sent him a thank-you note.
I got a very nice response, in which he not only appreciated the feedback, but explained why he creates the products that he does.
So what are your good vendor experiences?

Comments
Some work and experiments I did, in small part, helped lay the groundwork for a product a vendor sold.
The vendor sent me a gift card, out of the blue, as a thank you.
VERY cool.
Mec4d created a thread to celebrate her birthday, last summer. And she created a number of items she gave away free during that time. She was also very visible and helpful in the early months of the 4.8 beta and Iray, until she had to spend time away from the forums to get some paid work done.
I'm not sure if "vendors" excludes the artists who make their products available for free. But Beat578 over at Renderosity has been showering the Freestuff section with high quality products for several months. That sort of generosity I do respect.
Yes, I should have specified all providers. I've gotten some good stuff for free.
And the reverse is also true. The customers at DAZ are a pretty good bunch too.
I'm always impressed that people take the trouble to PM me for no other reason that to say 'Thank you!'. Usually, the only feedback vendors get is through sales numbers, gallery images with our products, or an occasional thread in the forum. Then of course, there are complaints. I think in 14 years at DAZ, I've only had one really nasty PM about a product, and the person in question was beyond reasoning with. Others have PMd me with questions or issues, which I can usually clear up by walking them through the problem. I'd much prefer someone to tell me they have a problem, rather than not use the product again.
I'm grateful to Catherina (Mec4d) too. She helped me a lot when I was struggling with Iray shaders in the beginning. She's great with other PAs as well as customers.
Btw, Petercat, I'm a 'he'. And thanks again for taking the time to PM me.
mac
I've PM'd Fisty and Sickleyield for help and advice and both have come back with very friendly replies.
And Maclean was very helpful once when I couldn't get the toolbar to work on the Room Creator.
You're best bet is to contact CS.. not every PA reads the forums, so it's a little harsh to take their lack of response as something personal.
I'd echo this, and since we're allowed to include freebie providers too, I can't see Wendy (Wilmap) not get a mention. Her generosity and talent are pretty much legendary, and if they're not then they ought to be :)
I agree with you Beat has some very good quality & assortment items he has released. not just at rendo but at sharecg.com as well.
Cathi @ MEC4D is super nice and alot of fun to chat with out of the Daz forums. I have her in my Social network , her artwork is very inspiring for sure.
Also I would like to give credit and kudos' to FirstBastion Not only are his environment models very useful and work really well in animation. He is always prowling & participating in the forums and appears to always be around to answer any question I have had with his products, and I appreciate that.
I love Stonemason products if I had the bank roll for them I would own them all. But I will have to admit I have sent him more than one message with questions about his products and never got a reply back. Or perhaps he may have thought my questions were dumb, So it left me to figure it out myself.( Not helpful at all.).
Though I have many favorite character creation artist who are very talented.. My top 2 character venders are Silver and Fred Wrinkler.. they really pay attention to the little details because their characters are flawless, and they have always are happy to answer any questions or concerns by email .
I could go on and on. with some bad venders attitude experiences I have had . But i rather not say anything about them because they may not really be bad venders, I like to think they maybe were just having a bad day,
Edit: I will have to add Daz's QA department to the bad vender list only because I have had a support ticket in with them for over the last 6 months and have not heard a word.. I sure am glad they aren't doctors. Could you imagine If it took 6 months or ever to get a test results back ....lol
On this site, I have PMed AprilYSH, Saiyaness, and The Management with questions about their products [and then later to say that I loved their stuff and used it in my work]. All of them responded quickly and cordially, so I appreciate their prompt customer service. The Management was especially generous last summer when I was looking for a gingerbread house; he let me play with a beta version of the recently released Witch's Gingerbread House [which is awesome, and you should buy it].
On Rendo, I have PMed Propschick, Ajax, and renapd about long-lost freebies. They all did their best to find them and post them online [except Propschick's was unrecoverable :( ]. That's dedication.
On RDNA, when Aeon Soul was having its "we're leaving" sale, I purchased the V4 110.1 cyborg bits. After that I realized that there was a G2F equivalent. Unsure of RDNA's return/exchange policy, I asked if I could exchange. They gave me store credit for the V4 version, which I then deleted from my computer, and I got the G2F equivalent. I appreciated their Daz-like return policy in this instance, as that's certainly not a standard with digital download products.
My favorite good vendor story concerns Darkseal and Renderotica. I had a question about DS compatibility for a product, so I E-mailed the info@ E-mail address. Several hours later [!] Darkseal himself wrote back and answered my question. I always like talking directly to people whose digital items I like, so that was unexpectedly nice.
We have many responsive vendors and content creators in our community who consider thorough responses to questions a necessary part of their job. Thanks, all!

Yeah, Wilmap is basically giving several hundred dollars worth of content for everyone, free.
I had a problem with Bluebird 3D's Martial Arts Dojo when it first came out. I needed to change the signs inside the dojo and the template zipfile was empty. I PM'd her and had a lovely go 'round with several pms. She was always polite and helpful and sent me the templates I needed. She sent the updated file to DAZ, but, as far as I know, they have never updated it yet. Last time I checked after our conversation, the zipfile was still empty. I don't know if she ever got that fixed, but she was very friendly and helpful so that I got the templates I needed. I really appreciated her efforts.
Oh, did i oversaw a button? You can contact vendors via PM?
That sounds great!
Where can i find that?
I am a big fan of Jepe's work. Whenever I post something I've done using his products, I always tag him and happy to see when he adds something I did to his favorites.
Conversely, there is a vendor who was rude and condesnding to me in the forums and I don't buy his products.
I've had very little direct contact with vendors (by which I mean outside of forums) but in every case I've found them to be extremely gracious. Two I can mention are Fred Winkler and Ironman13. I'd be shocked to discover that any vendor would be otherwise in this market as we are not dealing with faceless corporations. I guess it's possible that one might find a vendor rather abrasive on the forums, but, as off-putting as that may be (understandably), that's not quite the same as if it were to occur in a direct customer-merchant relationship.
I've had my product showcase thread in Art Studio for three years, and Fisty, Khory, FirstBastion, and Cris Palomino are always answering questions for us on a regular basis, and also pitching in are Maclean, Aave Nainen, Destiny's Garden, Slosh, Llola Lane, and so many more. Appreciate their input and help, and I just can't list every vendor who has helped us out over in that forum, but you are invaluable help and we appreciate it very much.
And of course, Zev0 and Mattymanx are always around all the forum threads, answering questions. (And kudos to Jack Tomlin- such a brave soul over in the PC forum, posting and trying to explain things, many of which he has nothing to do with!)
The one I really appreciated- I was having trouble with one of Faveral's products that had water, and Faveral popped into my thread and told me how to make it look good. So sweet! (The trouble with the product was my skill, not the product of course.)
Top billing goes to FirstBastion though- he supported my Because I Said So! contest and did so with gusto. He also supports the RRRR contest. You will not meet a more generous or thoughtful person than FirstBastion.
To me is seems forum regulars here are so good with helping each other from expert level to new users, so IMO the kudos go to them! (A long time ago in a galaxy... oops wrong story) Many years ago there were only a few vendors and the forums were easier to keep up with, tech changes weren't coming as quickly (Poser-only days lol) so content vendors seemed to make up most of the active forum membership! Now it seems active content users are far and away more in touch with each other and have a better grasp on wider aspects of the software and content. I find forum search always leads me to a forum regular's expert reply... or Richard Haseltine!! :)
<--- you click on a person's name and it takes you to a page with a message button :) If for some reason you want the vendor's direct attention, it is easier these days to go via PM or emails (or even facebook messages because it sends an email!)
I subrscribe to a good number of DAZ vendors (and vendors from the "other" sites) on Facebook and deviantArt. I've written to several over the years thanking them for their quality products, talents, etc. And in many cases they might have contacted me first via social media or email thanking me for purchasing their products, sending me friend requests on social media and similar sites. All the vendors here at DAZ have my respect and admiration. In all the years I've purchased from DAZ I've never once been disappointed, by DAZ or a PA. They are an inspiring and talented group of people. You all are really. But since we are talking about vendors... ;)
+1
I totally agree, FirstBastion is very generous, and very helpful with a good advice
Best vendor for me is Alessandro Mastronadi. He's a regular contributor to several threads and is very supportive of people with problems. When I had a problem using some of his LAMH animals in an Iray render he rapidly responded with some very detailed advice which solved the problem. Oh, and his cute little furry animals are very, very good as well.
Cheers,
Alex.
Seconded!!! When I had problems using Log Cabin in my Winter Cabin scene he helped me figure out what I needed to do and then went and made the UV maps for the snow because the textures for that were procedural and he didn't have UVs which in my newness I didn't even realize were missing. He is an awesome vendor. His videos on his Youtube channel have also been very helpful with his LAMH product. P.S. You forgot a an 'r' it is Mastrondardi.
I was also recently having some interesting interactions with Marshian. Lovely person who is very patient with this still relatively newbie who wants to do things with his products that they weren't necessarily made to do. He has been very polite throughout
I do love it when vendors are in the forums with their customer base. Gives me a warm and cozy feeling.
I've had good experiences with many vendors. JoeQuick, FWArt, Sabby, OutofTouch, EmmaAndJordi, many more. I think my best story is Zeddicus PM'ing me around Christmas and thanking me for buying his/her products on another site, and then getting an e-mail from them telling me Merry Christmas, to choose a product from their store for a FREE Christmas gift! That was awesome, now I always look out for new releases from Zeddicus!!!
Back in mid-2012 I was working on an image and needed to build a shabby mill town neighborhood of row houses. The basic 2-up/2-down style. At the time, it seemed like the house from AntFarm's End of the Line product would work quite well except that it is 3-story and I needed 2.
I posted a question of 'How can I remove the top story of this house?' in the forum here and after a while Ant Farm contacted me and after a bit of discussion -- the model is low poly enough that I couldn't simply make the top story invisible -- he very kindly sent me a version of the house without the top story.
Now that is Kindness above and beyond the normal call of vendors..
if you look at the freebie section and see lots of very usefull stuff
from mcasual
a big applause please
There is one like that for me too; something venders should consider. That coupled with ignoring my posts when I requested futher renders.
I now never miss an opportunity to mention this aspect when others ask advice.
Thankfully there are lots of examples of great vendors, here and other sites.
SimTenero, is a new vendor, and I was dubious at first but he(she?) found about the thread and has been active and helpful, including adding features and fixing a bug. A positive action and something that is likely to make me consider whatever they next produce. (Incidentally it's a great product, and lots of fun.
)
(Being a new vendor, does Daz make any suggestions on what one should do? It might be a good idea if not, as I imagine the pressure and excitement can allow one to forget what one appreciates from others when being a customer.)
Oops accidentally posted...
I don't think I ever mentioned it here, but since DAZ sells Filter Forge, I think it's probably okay... One of the cool thing I've like about them is when I ask a question on their site, often one of the top FF staff will reply... The guys who actually make it. A couple of weeks ago I noticed something potentially confusing in how a sales pitch was worded and I asked about it and the guy who wrote it responded and it was changed the next day based on my suggestion....
Holy freakin poops... That has never happened anywhere... I made a legitimate suggestion and someone valued it and acted on it.
They value customer's legitimate input (and not just mine) and it's something I appreciate.
I've seen a few people mention getting thank you notes from venders.. which is great, I enjoy them when I get them too.. but just so everyone is aware, if you buy something at Daz and don't get a thank-you note don't be put off, we don't get specific buyer information here so we have no idea who bought our products.
I've gotten a few PMs and emails from customers needing assistance or just wanting to comment or say thanks. I always try to answer promptly. I do know not everyone checks their pms. TBH, I can forget...they're just not very apparent to me and I'm always so busy that I can go for quite a while before I realize I haven't checked PMs in some time.
