any chance of having a 1 to 1 with a product vendor?

I have numerous questions on being a daz product vendor as I feel I could make good quality content in time.
People before have mentioned to ask the vendor; SickleYield who I did contact and did find to be helpful. I am now looking for other opinions from other product vendors because I need more feedback on certain programs etc to use for Daz content and to do this I need to ask a collective of vendors for a generalized idea which may be best and yes I understand it would be the wisest idea to use whatever program suits me but I needed some general info from other pro's in the field.
Am hoping someone could suggest a vendor who could message here or in private pm if they have the time. Thankyou.

Yeah I definitely think the forum needs a content creators section where we can ask all the questions we need to.
ignore..i misread the question
It's called Technical Help ;-)
But keep in mind, it's not only just what programs one has, but what can one do with what one has. For PA stuff you do have to keep "up-to-date" on the programs and figures. In other words, it is not a free ride.
I guess it would depend on what kind of content you would like to start off with
oooo When did they change that? I swear that section was for Daz specific tech help at one point.
Tutorials are mostly posted in technical help forum, especially when they are for programs other than the Daz 3D stable of programs, or for things like content creation, which can incorporate several programs.
Program specific forums for Program specific help.
Good to know. Thanks!
Just playing devils advocate here and not trying to discourage, but this is a niche market and not that big, so making a living out of being a vendor is the exception, not the norm. And while the more vendors and products the better for the consumer, the worse for the vendor, so why would any vendor trying to make a living on DAZ/poser products encourage competition, at least for free? I do applaud SickleYield for her sense of community and giving back with help, freebies and tutorials, but business is business. Dreamlight has lots of help and tutorials that I have gained alot from, but I paid for much of that help which made perfect sense for me.
The stuff linked here is worth reading. http://www.daz3d.com/community/community-publishing
The more diversity of products there are the more customers it brings in and the more customers there are to see our stuff and maybe buy it. Darc and myself can only produce so many thing per month. (That seems to be around 1.5 on average) Everyone has different styles, even in similar items like dresses there are differences. Certainly with environments there is a huge difference even if it's same subject matter. Some will prefer First Bastian's style, some Stonemason, some Flipmode, some BlueBird.. and a lot of people will by everything those 4 release because they love having a lot of different environments to use. Some will prefer my style of clothing design, some will prefer Out of Touch, or Lilflame, etc.. and a lot of people will buy any new dress released if it's in there favored genra.
So yeah.. not worried about more PAs. =)
As many vendors as there are here, they still cannot create everything that every customer wants. If you can find a niche that you can fulfill, more power to you, and as Fisty says, you won't be taking away from other vendors. I know that if you come up with something that I like, even in a general area like scenery, I will buy from you in addition to other vendors, not instead of.
Re vendor competition - A case in point is a recent thread where Widdershins was contemplating making a pack of groceries and submitting it to DAZ. I already have my Everyday Groceries pack, but I tried to be as supportive as possible, and I posted some suggestions to try and help out.
No two products will ever be absolutely identical, so the likelihood is that many customers will purchase both. I don't see that it benefits me in any way to block someone else's product.

This is how it should be. and for the record, customers NOTICE this kind of thing. I am far more likely to vote with my wallet with vendors who not only have great products but who are willing to support others as well and who are generally helpful not just to customers but their peers as well. As much as is possible in today's busy world I like to know what kind of person I am buying from and support small business's and truth of the matter is, I will take note of how a vendor responds and will deliberately purchase from people like you because I like the way you treat other people (aside from the fact that I like your stuff of course lol).
I misread the title too, but I bet your initial thought wasn't as bad as mine.
DS Shop really needs the possibility to contact the vendor directly and also the possibility to review a product.
Most products are a high risk to buy since there is no demo available and / or there are no reviews.
There's a 30-day refund policy on products sold here.
DAZ provides the support for these products, so if you have any issues, you can contact DAZ. PAs, who work 10-12 hours a day to provide the products should not be expected to also provide customer support.
As for being risky, as Male-M3dia mentioned, there is a 30-day refund policy, so if you find out you cannot use the product, you can return it. So if anything, it is risk-free. (Except for certain promotions, when this refund policy does not apply, but DAZ mentiones this, when it is such a promotion.)
I have to admit, I've never taken advantage of the 30-day refund, but it's reassuring to know that if, for any reason, something proves incompatible I will have this to fall back on. I'm usually too careful when making a purchase though, so I've never had any lingering regrets. My wallet, on the other hand...
I used to work in a camera store, and all staff were taught to help customers in any way possible. Frequently, if a customer wanted a camera or lens that we didn't have in stock, I would phone other stores in town and locate it, then send the customer there. More often than not, the customer would come back at a later date and buy the accessories from us, not the other store.
People remember that kind of thing. I know I do. PAs are customers too, you know. My loyalty index is very high to stores (physical or digital) where I'm treated well, and conversely, when I'm treated badly, I never go back to that place. So 'Do as you would be done unto' isn't a bad motto for any vendor.
K so after my thread seems to have taken a tangent ...is there NOBODY I can ask a few questions to who is a vendor? its not like I want to know the secrets to success that's going to see every vendor go out of business or something damnnn. Just had a few basic Q's is all!
If you're not yet a member of the Platinum Club+, then join. Immediately. And then hie thyself to the Members Only forum, forthwith!
One of my absolute favorite artists, Jack Tomalin (seriously -- if any product has his name on it, then it's in my cart even before the store page has completely loaded!), is the admin of one of the discussion groups in that forum. And from my own experience, he has always been more than willing to engage with visitors to his "domain".
I've even "kit-bashed" one of his products, severely hacking the geometry for an entry in an RRRR (Random Runtime Roulette Render) contest..., and he didn't sue! Or even threaten to!
Jack is definitely one of the Good Guys.
Hi Torque,
You have had a few vendors reply here which means they watch the forums at least. Mattymanx asked the best question which is what sort of products? I can help with general questions, but if you want advice with what sort of architectural sets you should make, I'm the wrong person to ask. First Bastion gave you the publishing link, which answers most general questions. If you want to know about shaders, texturing, or lighting, send me a PM. If you want to know about poses, contact Mattymanx. You get the drift. We don't have enough information to help you.
For really non product specific type of questions, or what sort of programs vendors use to accomplish "X", that is a general question and can be asked to the community at large. Post them here, and more than one of us will respond, I'm sure.
You already have a few characters makers, a couple of environment makers, a pose + prop maker, a clothing & shader maker, and a lights & shader maker (generalizing strengths) here in your thread.. you've not told us which would be most appropriate to your interests.. So you have like a 7 on 1 right now, do you really want to take it to private messages and miss the input from the other 6 PAs that came here to talk to you?
So, start asking your questions. Here. Now. You have some of the bigger names in vendors talking to you. All of whom I've bought from and highly respect from working with their products. I'm not a vendor, but waiting to see what kinds of questions you have and what the answers are. But, you have to help them out a little and ask the questions. Maybe even tell them what you are interested in making. They can't actually answer questions based on what you've given them so far.
Just had a case on a product i bought because i expected something totally different and the DS support refunded me without any discussion :-D
... great!
THAT!
PM me and I'll try to help.
And another wild PA appears.
Seems to me the problem Torque3656 has is that hes too new here to realise like 1/2 the people who've replied to him/her are PAs.
Edit: Torque - PA = Published Artist, IE the people you want to.
And now at least two freebie 'vendors'...
I have found most vendors to be helpful here on the forum or via PM. However, when there is no response, I have had to go the support route and raise a bug. I did that two months ago after failing to get a response of any kind from a particular vendor (a vendor pair, to be more accurate). The ticket is still open with no response from anyone apart from the initial "we have reported this as a bug". Sometimes support can be a black hole.
