Thoughts about "Best Art Submission for 2015"

I don't know if there is a thread on this topic somewhere else, but I couldn't find any.

Let me first say that every single image is fantastic but one thing that strikes me when I watch the clip (and I have watched it a number of times) is that 80% of the images are portraits or close-ups. There are only a handful of the images that depicts an actual scene or tries to tell a story. While all the images in themselves are superb, the collection as a whole is boring and shows just a fragment of what DS can be used for.

A few examples: There are only one image that contains an item from Stonemason. I think there is only one scene or possibly none, that uses items from Jack Tomalin. These two designers are outstanding and whoever made the collection have totally missed that. It is as if DS only can be used to make magazine covers. Don't you want us to buy sceneries? Come on!

It's not all Studio renders. Here are three I identified:
    0:38 simonekitrty, Bryce
    1:07 Angel Estevez, Bryce
    1:22 Lars Braad Andersen, Vue

I can only agree. My first thought as I watched it was that almost every render was of a female. Not all that surprising considering the severe overrepresentation of females in the DAZ galleries but I think this had an even higher ratio of females vs everything else. Not complaining though. I like females. Just an observation.

On a related note. Anyone knows if there will be a "best of december" too, or is this the only one they will present this month?

There's great art in there, but yeah, I think the only requirement is that a DAZ product be used somewhere in the creation of the image. Since these videos began, I've recognized quite a few Vue renders, some that are just too realistic to be rendered without custom PBR textures, and some appear to have either dynamic or photo-composed hair. In no way does any of that detract from the quality of the image - I rely on Photoshop postwork myself to make my renders even somewhat interesting - but it may make those unfamiliar with 3D believe that one can get those results entirely from products they purchase here.

Yes, you're right. There are a couple of other images by Hypertaf  (0:24 and 1:38) that also is not rendered with DS. These obeservations also adds to my point since they are among the few who shows a scene, not just a portrait, therefore decreasing the number of DS scenery renders to almost none.
