Rendering with GPU only but notice CPU at 51%

I just tested my new GTX 960/4 GB card. It rendered a scene that took hours with the CPU in only 18 m, 43 s. I am very pleased!

I searched the forum but didn't find an answer to my question.

Why does DAZ Studio keep the CPU at 51% during the render when I only check to use GPU? The GPU was rendering, definitely, and there was plenty of free memory left in the video card.

My CPU is an AMD Quad-core Black Edition.

When I am rendering GPU only, CPU usage sits at around 25%, and I have 8 threads (ie Quad processors that use hyper threading). Obviously the CPU still has work to do, even on a GPU Only render, but my CPU usage would be a 100% if I was to render on CPU and GPU, making the PC very sluggish for other tasks during the render. At 25% I can continue to use the PC more or less normally.

I found it odd that it was using 50%-51% of the CPU throughout the render.

You can set DAZ Studio to a lower priority level in the Task Manager, and even if it uses 100% of your CPU you can do other stuff, like browse, etc. Provided you have enough memory left during the render.
