Daz blue-screening laptop

Not sure if anyone else is seeing it, thus the reason for my post, but since late December, launching Daz on my laptop will blue screen it with a kernel_security_check_failure  :(

I am now relegated to an older win7 laptop and DS 4.7.  I guess it's what happens when you introduce a new GEForce card, Windows 10 and iray all at once.  Something had to give.

Curious if anyone else is having issue recently?

    Thanks for the link,

No I didn't do everything on that.

I don't believe its smart to use auto-driver update programs from 3rd party companies. I don't have a problem with crashing at any time, except when I run Daz 4.8, then within 10-60 seconds of launching -> blue screen.  This only in the past month it started.  This would infer a new driver instability, versus an old driver.  My graphics drivers are up to date.

I do have active malware and virus scanning, full scans per week.

I'll try a drive check, but it doesn't fit the pattern I see, especially since now that I downgraded, 4.7 works fine.

The latest drivers for Win10 were out right before Christmas (21st, I think), if that's the one you are running try dropping back a version and do the 'clean install' option, if available.

I usually let the GEForce Experience update the drivers.  I don't see a way through it to downgrade?  If I do it outside, I'd have to turn it off.

Anyway, I am all about toon shaders and renders, and 3delight seems to work as good as (if not better) than iRay for that.

Sounds like its just my laptop, and not an epidemic.  It's a touchscreen, as well, which may contribute to the problem.

I have a brand new laptop, which runs perfectly, but crashes with a kernel_security_check_failure when I try to run DAZ 4.9. A friend installed it on his machine and it locked it when he tried to run. Looks like 4.9 has some problems. I will see if I can download an older version. If not, I guess I just will not use DAZ on my new laptop until it is fixed. Really disappointing! At least you know you are not alone with this problem.

EDIT: I rolled back my NVIDIA driver and it did the trick. DS has started without issue. To roll it back, go to Control Panel /  View Small Icons / Device Manager / Display Adapters. Right-click NVIDIA and select Properties. Select the Driver tab and click Roll Back. When it has finished, try opening DAZ again.

OK, thanks I may give it a try!  Hopefully I saved a DS 4.8 release around here somewhere.

BTW, do you have a new touchscreen laptop?  Mine is...

Just a regular laptop, not touch screen. Hopefully rolling back your NVIDIA driver will do the trick and let you run DAZ 4.9 (or whichever version you like).

Yea, the rollback worked (whew!), I am now running the 8/25/2015 driver: 10.18.13.5582 for NVidia.  I've got the 4.8 and 4.9 Beta, so I am going to install one of them and test it out...at some point here.

So far so good!  I installed a copy of 4.9 on another drive to protect my 4.7 installation, and it seems to be working.  (I could not find a 4.8)
