Out of curiosity- Computer or Mobile device for forums?

McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,085

Over the past year I have turned to using my iPad for forums, tutorials and even purchases... For me it makes more sense and I can step away from the computer for the lighter stuff like reading and writing.

What do you tend to use more for forum visits... Desktop/laptop or mobile/tablet?

If you use a tablet or mobile device, do you find it convenient or missing something?

Desktop.  But I'm that data point that's WAAAAAAAAAAY off to one side, so don't let it influence you too much...

Tablet and desktop, ain't touched me ol' laptop in over a year. But my tablet is set up as a desktop so I guess that don't count none.

Mostly 'coz I need a magnifying glass to see a screen smaller then 17/19 in.

    Decent forums, iPad.

This new faux-mobile DAZ formum, PC. So much of it is persistant, and there's lots of things too small to work. This editor, for example, is totally useless on an iPad. Then there's the spell check corruption issue. If you use a PC on the forum, you'll get a lot of spelling errors, but they won't corrupt your iPad's dictionary.

At least the forum isn't as bad as the main site. Try to wrest control away from the hideous animated scrolling "blurb bar" by swiping on a tablet. g'head, just try. I dare you.

I use both computer and handheld. I wish the forum picture displayed in proportion like it used to in the old forums. The stretched out pictures are a pain on the handheld device. Yeah, I know I can click to display them properly but the old forum allowed it without the extra click.

Desktop. Once I manage to get away from the computers, I want my peace.

I'm one who has no use for a so-called "mobile device"; PC at home, laptop at the wi-fi hot spots. Even if I could get signal at home I wouldn't use a "mobile device". But I can't get a cell signal anywhere near the house, and the only wi-fi I get is from my own system.

    Greetings,

Phone or tablet most of the time (Chrome on iOS), including right now. Editor works reasonably well, as does the store.

I use the desktop/laptop at work to browse the forums, and occasionally from home.

Attachment was my winter break project... I really like having access from my iOS devices... :-)

Laptop and only mobile when I am away from home and extremely bored. Have a large screen mobile device. I wouldn't touch it with a small screen, and agree with SereneNight that the double clicking is not fun.

Desktop and occasionally laptop. I find the ipad too small to read the forums properly so don't bother to use it.

    that is very expensive.

I saw a picture that an iPad is a pad on a piece of cardboard.

I use my kindle fire and my dekstop to view the forums.   I use the tablet to view on the go but desktop at home (most of the time) though this keyboard needs to be replaced ASAP

I use my Desktop for the forums and for all web browsing. I've got a tablet but I don't like the web browser on it very much. I mostly use the tablet for watching videos and reading digital comics, but only because the place I get my comics doesn't have a Windows 7 reader for their DRM protected comics.

  • I prefer my my desktop, but use the tablet at work.  I work at a bank, and they have key tracking and will block what they deem inappropriate sites for the workplace, and those aren't necessarily porn.  If the word game gets used too often for example, the site will be blocked on the work pcs.  DAZ and my other CG sites haven't been blocked, but I figure why chance it when I have the tablet and the building has wifi.

Desktop: 25%, iPad Pro: 75%; I've used iPads for more most of my web browsing since the first one came out, a first-gen iPod for limited browsing and most of my novel reading before that. I've never had any problems with the iPad regarding stretched or squashed images. Can't think of anything I'm missing whenusing it, though I'd still really, really, really love a copy of the D|S mobile rendering app DAZ showed off a few years ago when they were looking for developers to use DAZ models in their apps.

I would never use a phone to access the forums. A tablet maybe, but I don't usually carry one. I have a Kindle Fire I got free. I use a desktop at home. At work when I'm goofing off, excuse me, waiting for a run to finish, then I use the laptop.

Most of the time I just use my desktop for everything including internet. However, if I am at work and don't have access to my desktop or am doing renders on the desktop then I will use my Windows tablet.
