Looking to accessorize...
in The Commons
I need that little extra touch on my characters to really flesh them out. I got a good wardrobe so far but I am missing good accessories.
Would anyone have good places to suggest where I could find some nice earrings, bracelets/bangles or necklaces? I bought Chunky Hoops from Sveva elsewhere but the good/recent/DS compatible stuff seems rare. The really interesting things I see are usually Poser stuff and they are never too clear on just how compatible they are with Daz.
Any good resources out there for such things? Thanks for the help!

For G3, I have this & use it often

If you like things created for Poser then you can easily use shaders to convert the surfaces to either Iray or 3DL - There are lots of shaders in the store but here is an iray example that would probably do for most jewellry & if you are in the PC+ is only $3.99

If you limit yourtself to only items that are made for a specific figure and DS only, you will be missing out on lots of options. Keep in mind that most non rigged items are DS compatible. You may have to change textures or material settings, but as long as you have the mesh and it is UVmapped, then youi can make most anything work in DS. I suggest looking at the free sites (ShareCG, Renderosity freestuff) for jewelry and then play around with changing settings and understanding it all.
One of my fave earring sets that I use on all figures is for V4 https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=98777
Thanks so much! The jewelry pack looks pretty nice but that IRAY shader pack might just be the solution I was looking for to feel more comfortable buying Poser jewelry. I already have a bunch of shaders but it always pains me to grab a pack of dozens of shaders where I can only see myself using 2 of them... This pack however will see a lot of use. Thanks!
Oh, I absolutely know I would be limiting myself... so much stuff I want is either Poser stuff or older 3DL stuff when I'm doing all my stuff in Iray... (got into Daz about 3 months ago so I've only ever used Iray). But I guess shaders are usually the answer to most of those compatibility problems. It's just a bit scary to plunk down 20$ here and there on stuff you aren't sure you'll be able to make work and the vendors aren't usually pretty clear on how compatible things are (should I just assume the issue is always just the mats?).
Otherwise, I think the only Poser stuff I should be avoiding to buy is dynamic clothing, is that right?
Pretty much. There are a few items out there that are poser specific meaning they use poser scripts, or poser procedural shaders which won't transfer to DS. I have a few older characters that use this, usually for makeups or fancy cloth shaders, but these are few and far between and usually state this in the product description. Fabiana and Maddelirium are two outstanding vendors whose items can be very app specific because they take full advantage of what each can do and this doesn't usually transfer over to each other.
keep in mind that just because it is Iray, doesn't mean it doesn't work in 3DL and vice versa. Just means you might have to do some texture/shader tweaking which for me and many others is part of the process anyhow.
Check out Emma & Jordi's jewelry. They have some beautiful stuff that is very versatile and should work with all figures

Just to mention a couple
The first one is a bit much for my needs, but the second one is a great bundle. Thanks!
Greetings,
The thing I find myself frustrated about is the lack of anklets. Bracelets and anklets don't 'hang' quite the same (and usually aren't designed quite the same), so it'd be really cool if someone did a set of jewelry that included anklets. I can (and do) convert bracelets to anklets, but it'd be cool to have some that are designed for that purpose up front...

Agreed, alhtough I usually use a bracelet ad then a deformer to simulate gravity and direction.
I wish there were proper dynamics in DS. I had several dynamic necklaces for poser that worked great.
