Looking for photo studio props...

XoechZXoechZ Posts: 1,102

Hello!

I want to use DAZ Studio as a "real" photo studio, means creating renders like they are done in photo studios. I already have the IDG Portrait Studio which is really great for all lightning purposes. The backdrop is also nice and very useable. But besides that my "studio" is empty. So now I am looking for all kinds of props that I need for posing my models. Props like chairs, cubes, sofas, beds, stools, ... and all such things used in photo studios.

Where can I find such props? I have searched the store for a while and here and there there are products which include useful things, but I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to buy many many products just to get a hand full of things I need.

I have also tried to model in Hexagon. It works for really simple objects, but it is very time consuming and everything that has a bit more geometry is beyond my limits. Especially when it comes to UV mapping and texturing.

So, what can I do? Any suggestions or advices for me?

Thanks in advance!

I am unaware of any photo studio that is available here, but rendo has this one:

There is also this one that seems very popular (ie it has been in the What' Hot list for some time)

    Hi XoechZ,

I'm glad you like the Portrait Studio. I know it is a little sterile right now. I can tell you that there is an expansion in the works for those carpet cube things, small furniture, etc., but it will definately be a few months before that is ready, so don't wait on us.

Furniture like sofas, beds, stools and the like can be anything really. If you are in the Platinum Club, there are hundreds of super useful things in the $2-$4 range.

Sorel's suggustions are very good. I'm going to toss a few more that I use quite a bit.

Good luck, and be sure to come back with renders.

    cheers!

Thanks for your suggestions. They look good and promising.

And thank you DestinysGarden. I am happy to hear that there will be an addon for the Portrait Studio. Cant wait to have it :-)

Btw, I am rendering via Reality/Lux and the Portrait Studio lights work very well. All I have to do is to convert either the light bulb or the diffusor to a light in Reality and everything is perfect. Of course I will upload some renders in the galleries as soon as I get something good enough for it :-)

You are right, I13 has some great stuff. I already own some of those products.

I plan to do anything that is possible in a photo studio. Ranging from glamour shots to portraits and artistic nudes. Mostly playing with curves, lights and shadows. In another thread I linked to this page: www.strobox.com Lots of examples and inspirations there.

Thanks for the mention, equinox. Fashion Studio is quite old now, so materials and lights will need to be tweaked (for Iray, for example). But if you want actual studio props, like lights, stands, gobos, umbrellas, camera and lenses, it's all in there.
