V3... if one is going to do the Case 2 operation, which Preset do you recommend using for the initial conversion? I usually found in 4.8 that I liked Preset 3 the best, in the sense that it works consistently in many different lighting conditions, but I'm wondering in 4.9 with Case 2 is that still the case.

Preset 1 uses specular maps for Glossy layered weight and top coat weight. Preset 2 only for glossy layered weight, and preset 3 does not use them at all (so is more "stable" between various figures since it does not matter if the maps are clear or dark). It is interesting to keep the maps (Preset 01 and 02) only if they are made for PBR (which often is not the case, especially for figures made when Iray was not in DS). But you can have really nice results with presets 3 too, for which glossiness will depend only on lighting conditions, on geometry, and a bit on bump. (well of course it depends of the gloss and top coat settings) .This is probably why you find it works more consistently under various conditions. You are not "polluted" by the maps.

Skin Tone (what you asked me, case 1, case 2) and glossiness are "almost" independent ("almost" because the more the base tone is dark, the more white gloss of this skin is visible, for a same amount of gloss - this is just a matter of contrast). If you prefered Preset 3 the best in 4.8, I would advice you to go on with Preset 3. Pick up preset 3, then adjust the skin tone (case 1, or case 2), and then, eventually, readjust the gloss (if necessary only).
