difference between the HD character and the HD dial?

So i can load the V7HD character or i could load V7 and dial in the V7HD parameter. Is there a difference?

    Not really; you can chose how much to dial in, but in a preloaded character, you can dial it out; presuming the functionality is built in. I can't think of any off-hand that you can't.

    I think the only difference would if you load a character and then add the HD dial in, you will need to set the "render subdivisions" to 3 if you are using Iray. 3Delight will set it automatically.
