What in the world is this? Strange gun symbol when I open DS -- Solved

I've never seen this before, but now when I open DS (using 4.8.0.59), I see this little red circle with a gun in it. The circle stays, but the gun vanishes after a few seconds. It wasn't doing this earlier today, and I have no idea what's causing it.

  • looks fascinating, no idea never seen it cheeky

time to shoot the screen maybe?

  • Odd, it's there when I open Blender too. Maybe it has something to do with OpenGL?

  • confirms it is indeed a shoot the screen prompt, prob from Microsoft to make you get WinX as they tried every other strategy to force it unless you are on a Mac laugh

Yeah, it's in Poser too whenever I use OpenGL, but not when I use SreeD. Windows must've installed some sort of update when I restarted my computer. I have Windows 10, so I've already fallen for their tactics. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the little bugger...

Edit: Okay, I installed new drivers and restarted my computer, and now it's gone. I hope I never see the blasted thing again.

That's weird. I'm up to date on Windows 10 updates and I have never seen anything like that in any application.

If I had to guess what that icon is trying to tell you it appears to be a trigger lock (or a gun that works over wi-fi)

is it possible you have a  3rd party pointing system or drawing tablet connected to that device?

No, the only peripherals I have are a standard keyboard and mouse. It had something to do with my dirver, since updating it made it go away. The weird thing is that I had the same driver for weeks without seeing the thing.
