Dear AprilYSH

I am looking at your newest hair for G3M and I like it. I am hoping you might make a companion hair item where the warrior lets his hair down after having it in such a ponytail/bun all day :) Guy has to wash it right? Maybe even a morph to tuck it behind the ear[s] Just a thought :)

Due to my limited connection over Xmas break I'll try to reply to a few things in one spot...

    Long male hairstyle -

Daz commissions have taken all my time in the past year and they decide the general style. I would like to do another long male style like Julius hair but messier lol I'll have to figure out how to fit it in, or maybe Daz will ask for one like it. Thanks Nosiferret :)

    Regarding white-out hair renders -

You could use the iray render setting I include which turns off auto headlamp that seems to have a problem with the small amount of backscatter I set in the materials.

I'm away from my computer till the 27th so I can't investigate this issue. I don't want to just stop using backscatter without looking into it further. I'll be wondering why doesn't backscatter work, how can you use backscatter, it doesn't seem right that it HAS to be zero, what conditions is this an issue, is that really the culprit??

The auto headlamp is more dispensable to me since I think of it as just a preview light not related to actual scene or hdri lighting.  Anyway, I'll look into it though daz might edit the files (removing backscatter) before then. If I find a more logical solution I'll just get them to update it again lol ;)

That basic setting I include is what I always start with but for promos I apply the setting then switch out the hdri for a brighter one.  I've got spotty and horribly slow connection where I am staying for Xmas so I can't look up these websites right now. I replied a while back on my Facebook (which won't load for me right now) about Fraser hair promos with the links. :)

    Leo skin rendering orange -

I found the 3delight mat setup was truer to the jpg colours while the iray mat setup made him red/orange.  I don't know why they did that with the iray.  I wasn't sure how BEST to fix it - probably start from scratch, but I didn't have time for that :P  So my quick fix was to counteract red with green ;)  I changed the Base Colour from white (1,1,1) to light greenish (0.8, 0.92, 0.85) and the Transmitted Colour from that pinkish to the same light greenish.  It gave him a greenish cast in some areas that weren't so red in the jpgs in the first place but still looked kinda good to me lol.   Plus same bright hdri only light setup I used with the M7 Fraser Hair promos; I had the render settings Tone Mapping - Exposure Value at 12.5 to get the brightness :)

Now let's see if this post gets through... I've got one bar on my phone, connection comes and goes. I wrote it in notes and copy pasting here just in case lol.

  • Got it. Thanks for answering!! Hope you are having a great Christmas :) The guys need a little flexibility with their hair, they all can't run around in short preppy hair styles. But I understand when you say DAZ calls the shots on what and what not to make :)
