Can you fit Genesis on Genesis 2?

Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,114

Preliminary results suggest 'your computer will excrete kittens if you try,' even with both set to Base.

Is there a way?

I'm trying to get a Genesis 'skin' on a Genesis 2 figure for UV purposes (spending YET ANOTHER $50 on compatibility is snapping my patience, to get M/V4 stuff onto Genesis 2)

Could you not use Map Transfer? Transfer the map to M5 or V5 as these can both be placed on G2M without needed to buy any further UVs.

  • Export as OBJ, and fit that to G2.

All to easily, just use "fit to" like you would any other conformer, the when autofit starts select Genesis for the figure and none for the template.

Bejaymac: I tried that, it hardlocked my computer every time.

Havos: I'll experiment with that, thanks! I was trying to Map Transfer to G2F, but... yeah, duh, I only need something G2F can use.

Sigh. Of course, since I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get map transfer to DO anything, guess I'll just wait until I have $50 to set on fire.

Go to the surfaces tab, right click on the tab, and you should see Map Transfer as an option. Having said that I am very happy to have V4 for G2F, and M4 for G2M, two of the most useful products I have. You can wishlist them and wait, they are often on sale.

Yes. And after that I don't have any clue what to do. I set save locations, set templates with targets for each zone, and... ... then absolutely nothing happens.

I'm really not thrilled that Daz's documentation is laughable. The wiki, almost every entry is blank. Seriously, guys? And the tutorials I've found are 6 years old, and unhelpful.

Thank you... the tutorial mostly didn't apply and was confusing, but there was a critical step it let me know I was missing (specifically, I have to DRAG items to the templates. I thought highlighting them and making a template included them. Duh)

I thought that base Genesis 1 used the V4 UV by default. And that G2F used V5's UV by default.

At this point I'm inclined to just use Genesis for what I'm doing, since I have GenX2 and can transfer most of what I'd want from Genesis 2 figures over.

But we'll see if I can make this work...

Eh, I give up, I'll just use Genesis 1. The transfer does confusing stuff, and with no adequate documentation, I'm just thrashing around in the dark (and no, Sickleyield's tutorial doesn't help)

I tried following the Sickelyield tutorial linked above. I created a template and drug the hip over, but after I selected a folder and adjusted other settings, nothing would happen when I clicked on ACCEPT. I drug the hip back to the right side, and then I saw there were two. Wasn't sure which was which, but I drug on to the left and tried again. This time it created some files however, I'm not sure I got what I was suppose to. The bump and specular maps look right, but the torsoHr.jpg is just the hips colored purple. Shouldn't it be the hip texture and not just the hips colored a solid color. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

After some experiments, it seems that going from M4 > M5 is problematic (or it has been for me), but going the other way works much better -- I've successfully transferred Reptilian 6 stuff to M4, of all things. So I'm happy about that, at least.

Of course, having mapped Reptilian to M4... I'm not sure why I'd ever USE that, but hey, good to know I could. ;)

Oh hey, I have some skins stuck behind Ninive and a few other UVs. For one thing, now that I have Reptilian 6 > M5, I can use it for female figures. Hmm. Maybe even make a V5 form... hmmmm.

Are you trying skins, or are you trying clothes?

For skins, with Genesis 2 you should have the coresponding UV for gender, no? you just switch the uv.  What am I missing?

I don't have V4 and M4 skins for Genesis 2. Also, I might (for some reason) want to put exotic UVs from Genesis 2 on a Genesis 1 figure. I'm... not entirely sure why, but hey. ;)

well, you should have v4/m4 for Genesis...so just do a double jump.

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,114

My attempts to convert a M4 skin to M5 look TERRIBLE. Big holes in the head. So... yeah. :/

Hmm..I just tried the double jump (with a v4->) and it worked, BUT, I do have the v4/G2F thing.

but at the gen state it looked fine. Sorry I couldn't be more help :(

I'll try again, and try the V4. (Trying to transfer Muscle Maps)

Heck, ONE jump would be fine.

... and for whatever reason, this time M4 > M5 worked perfectly. Uh. Ok, then!
