You can't...they are two distinct, separate shaders.  AoA is not a set of presets for the DzDefault or anything.  So the only way to do it IS applying a preset. There is no 'manual' way to change the shader.

    Have you seen this? http://www.daz3d.com/shader-mixer-tutorial-i

To make the basic default shader preset, 'create' a cube, select it and the surface and Save As a Shader preset.

i've made plain grey preset for all genesis generations.  :)

i like the Eddie skin, needs to tone down the orange

but havent been able to use him in carrara.  it's killin me,
cuz he's perfect for a teenage character in my story. he's real close to how i imagined him.
much better than the m4 version i kitbashed.

Well there is a preset you can use. if you go to shader presets>ds defaults and click dz default it will swich all the surfaces you want to the default shader. You will need to make sure you have the relevant surfaces selected in the surfaces tab.

But if you're just worried about turning down the orange you should probably just turn down the translucence strength but keep the AOA shader,

What j cade said. And if you right-click on 'ds default' in shader presets and select 'create action' from the little pop-up menu you should get an entry in scripts menu for it.

Then the next time you need to switch to the defaults, select the figure and the material zone(s) you want, then go up to the script menu and select 'ds default'. It's easier than hunting through your content folder each time (especially if you think you might be using it a lot).
