Maybe I'm a little dense this morning or in need of some more coffee but I'm having trouble ubderstanding exactly what I can do with the new Genesis 3 Cross Figure Ressource Kit that is on sale. Is just for use if I am creating new clothing? Or will it allow me to use existing G3M colthing on G3F and vice versa?

Basically, you can use it to help in creation of clothing for both G3F and G3M, but unofficially also use it as an end user to get clothing made for one figure to work on the other without the autofit dialog, so clothing (and especially geografted items-- though you may need to see with Genesis 3 as they have different poly counts now) will fit better.  Note that items that go around the chest may need some cleanup, especially if you're going from female to male.

I just purchased this, and using it to port geografts does not work properly. It does port them over, however the needed gap is not ripped out of the target figure. I noticed this in the product readme:

Unlike with Genesis 2, this process does not work well on Geo-Grafted items because Genesis 3 Male and Female have different geometry so it is unable to Geo-Graft.

So looks like we have found another snag with G3M and G3F having different geometry.

Just doing a render...but one thing it does is that you can load Gen3F and then dial in CrossFigure and it makes Gen3F a male.

I'll add the render as soon as it finishes. I picked it up because I got it for 75% off but it will be worth seeing what it can do...

You could make G3F a male without buying this product, just dial in the G3M fit clone under Hidden/Clones. However I would say the Cross-Figure version does bend slightly better. See below, clone on the left, Cross-Figure version on the right. Shoulders look a bit better on the right hand one IMHO. Now that I know this product does not work on geografts (this is not stated in the description btw), I am wondering why I bought this, since to move clothing over auto-fit normally does a good job.

There's a pdf file that comes with...still checking it out. Clothing could be converted without using autofit or the transfer utility and then saved from the look of it. As I said picked it up because it was a really good price.

  • Does it seem to work better than Auto-fit?

I couldn't really answer that until I've done some comparisons. Just got back from the weekly shopping trip. I'll check it out if I get time and post the results.

I'm so glad you said that cause it's the same reason I got it .......

lol...I saw 75% off and it sounded like something I could use...from what I can gather reading the pdf it does more than autofit as it also allows you to save the file using the bones from the other figure. If I'm reading it right.
