Bear with me here please, cos I'm kinda groping in trying to explain what I am meaning.
When 4.8 came out, I am positive there was talk that rendering a png now would give TRUE transparent background....without that little 'line' around the figure you are rendering. I'm sure you didn't have to do anything, it was just automatic.....but is it? Since I've got mynew computer, I've done a complete brand new install of DS and I've noticed that when I render out a png, I can see a slight 'line' around the figure (when doing a portrait).
Does anyone get what i am saying, or am I being too vague and confusing?

I think it is called Fringing in Photoshop, and images can be De-Fringed by removing a one pixel area around the image, but it should not really happen now in DS, with Iray at least. What render engine are you using, and do you have any backlighting?
I just did this quick G2F with the defaults in Iray DS4.8, and I don't see any fringing in my image, is this what you get?
yeah i used ot do it in photoshop till DS could do it by itself.
using iray in 4.8. I've never noticed it before, since the transparency happened in DS, so I can't work out if I should be turning something 'on' or not. I'm stumped.
this is example. Iray, very quick test render hence the grain. Saved as png, then put against backdrop in PS and flattened. I NEVER used to get that slight line aroudn the character since that true transparency caem in.
What are your alpha options in Render Settings? I assume Draw Dome is off, but how about Draw Ground?
um, that looks to me like Fresnel reflections around the edges of the figure...they are strongest around the curved surfaces of her head and weaker along the flatter edges of her trapezius.
