I was looking for the old DAZ free items dl page of yesteryear and can't find it. I assume therefore it has been removed forever?

Moving this to the commons, as it is a question about, not an offer of freebies.
And yes the old Freebie pages disappeared several years ago.
Unfortunately the forum archive which had the old freebi pages is no longer accessable. However, there are these old freebie lists still available.

WARNING: Some links may no longer be available.
The Daz Freebie archive disappeared before the store changed to the Magento store. It went around the time that ArtZone closed.
It's been suggested repeatedly that some enterprising packrat like me who saved virtually all of the installers could repackage the lot and hand them back to DAZ to make them available again. I could repackage them as zip files, but I don't know how to do the manifest files. The offer is still open.
They are not yours to redistribute. They are either the Property of the PA or of Daz 3D themselves. Regardless of whether they were in the freebie archive, they still fall under the Daz 3D EULA.
There is at least one of the PAs who had products in the archive who specifically does not want his redistributed as he says they are well out of date by todays modelling standards, and he said that in the forum not so very long back.
Cohole:
I don't think Slimer was proposing to redistribute them. It sounded like he was simply going to "hand them back to DAZ" from whence he got them in the first place. Then DAZ could rerelease them as appropriate.
I know at least one item (Morphing Python) that was in the old Freebie archive is now availble for sale in the store

Exactly. I was offering to repackage them and *give them back to DAZ* so DAZ could make them available. I would suggest a click-through license where the user has to accept the terms that the items are provided without any kind of support.
That does look like the same python...
Most of the items were not wanted to be returned. Some by their creators, some because other similar/related items were 'vaulted', etc. But there are a few that are simply irreplaceable...too cute, too useful or whatever. It would be nice if they were able to come back...in some form.
