Looks interesting sadly I don't use blacksmith, is it fairly easy to use?

I think it is, but I have not used it THAT much. Texture Transformer is available as stand alone too for a much lower price.

What does baked in mean in this contex?

It means projecting the texture, from the original geometry onto the new UV mapping/geometry and creating a new map from that projection.

Well, for the price of the Texture Transfer program one gets a free membership ;-) [as in buy the membership first, then buy the product]

and the plugin for G3 is peanuts.

    EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT

I tested it using Snow Sultan's seamguides for V4 and they transferred over to G3 ... I was on the right track with my changing uvmap lines one by one and shifting parts of areas over but he's figured it all out better and a LOT FASTER what needs to go where so I highly recommend it. And if one should really want to, one could use the new textures as a guide for moving uvmap lines one by one to make a new uvset lol ... Enjoy it ... it is worth every penny.

  • I already had Texture Transformer originally for use with Dawn, so all I had to buy was the add-on.  I'm no expert, but I'm very pleased with the results so far.  My first experiment was one of Maddelirium's skins, and it worked nicely, including the makeup.  I'm going to try one of her more detailed make-ups next.

Blacksmith's program works GREAT!!! I bought Texture converter because I wanted to be able to transfer V4 textures on G3F. And I'm far from being disappointed. I'm pretty happy with my purchase. It's a MUST HAVE for me. Personally I do all my renders in Vue and I tried to apply some addy texture (Danielle with green eyes) on V4, Genesis and G3F. They rendered almost exactly the same in Vue. No postwork, I didn't touch anything, just rendered as it. See the pictures. I'm so happy! Finally I will be able to use G3F with all my V4 textures, and I will be able to do that with only ONE single CLICK in Blacksmith's Texture transformer. So I can move on and continue with my comics. I can't wait for Blacksmith's M4 to G3M, and of course Dimension 3D' Gen X (probably Gen3X).

Front pictures: V4 on left, Genesis in middle and G3F on right.

Back pictures: G3F on left, Genesis in middle and V4 on right.

I put another picture. I tried now with addy Dolly texture on V4 (on the left on the picture), Genesis (middle left), G2F (middle right) and G3F (on the right). See picture. I put down the "Eye Moisture" which gave a white blueish color in the eyes of G3F.

What's nice about all this is that it opens up using Skin Builder for G3... just make a V4 skin and bam.

Pretty sure skin builder is v5 uvs, so currently you would have to convert the textures to v4 in daz and then use this skin converter.

Hrm. Maybe I was confusing it and Skin Overlay. Oops (I typically use both in projects, doh!)
