the for iRay is actually a bit missleading. They will work in other unbiased render engines, I use a lot of his "iray" things in Octane Render so I assume they will work fine in reality and lux.
HDRis can be used in any renderer that accepts them...but you would have to manually set them up as a light.
I really do not see why not. They are in the standard Lat-Long proportions (presumably Radiance format files), the same as the files that come with Reality from the sIBL archive (and these work fine in Iray). What you do not get, I presume, is the "preview" image in jpeg that attaches to the Reality sphere (used only as a guide in Studio) and an .IBL file to load them conveniently via Reality. You can work round these shortcomings though, in various ways.
The provided .dufs, of course, won't help you with Reality—you will have to dig out the actual HDR files from the textures folder, or wherever they are kept.
What the others said is correct. Any and all of my iRadiance sets are easily transferable to other programs that use HDRIs (even my mesh light textures work great in Octane with some manual setup). The "For Iray" text just means that is what the included presets are for. Camera presets in my variety packs, brightness and rotation modifiers along with color presets etc won't translate to other programs.
