Drag and drop to create Meta data...

Does anyone know how to do this? I'm pretty sure FixYourPCMike explained how to do it in another thread, but I've searched and I can't find it. I didn't create the thread, but I did participate, so I thought it would show up under my name. But I couldn't find it. I know you add the figure and then a clothing item (if that is the item you want to create meta data) and then you drag and drop something in the smart content folder you want the item to appear it. But I'm not sure if you drag from the scene or from the outline or from somewhere I'm not thinking of.

Also, if you delete something from the smart content, is there a way to get it back? I tried to do this drag and drop today. I finally got the clothing to appear, but when I applied it, it didn't put the clothes on Mike 4. It put them lower that the figure was. So I figured I did something wrong. I tried to delete it from the smart content. At first I couldn't figure out how. And then I right clicked and selected delete, but that appears to have deleted the item from the content library too. I thought the item I chose was from the woodGod M4 product. I tried reinstalling, but I could't. So then I uninstalled, and then redownloaded, but the clothing didn't come back, so maybe it was from some other package.

Thanks.

I found the thread I was looking for...

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/20018/metadata-tutorial-adding-new-items-to-your-smart-content

I searched the internet and found it.

Now if there is someway to get what I deleted back? All I know is that it was a white loin cloth that looked more like a speedo to me with some wrinkles.

  • That sounds suspiciously like one of Sickleyield's outfits, maybe?  Thanks for the link to the tutorial.  I'll have to give it a try.

Well, I found out that it is the WoodGod M4. I found the loin cloth cr2 and the png in the woodgod folder. It just doesn't show in the content library anymore. So how do I add it back? I already tried uninstalling and then reinstalling through the DIM

  • Do you use Smart Content?  Smart Content tends to lose track of a lot of stuff.  I usually only use the Content Library file tree.  However, I haven't found a good way of finding things yet.  Working on setting up categories, though.  You might want to read through this thread.  Lots of good info on setting up categories to make it easier to find things.

Thanks. I got the item back.

Not sure why there were two folders for this product. When I got my new pc, I used the DIM to install everything. That includes the WoodGod. Then I uninstalled and re-installed this product again today using the DIM. In any case, I found two folders that had almost the same path. The one had an extra folder in the path. I copied the missing items from the one folder to the folder that the Content Library was using (Who knows, maybe it is using them both!) and then I refreshed and I had the items back.

Thanks for you suggestions, Knittingmommy. BTW, at the top of the tread I put a link to, there is a tutorial that tells you how to add Meta Data. But you don't have to do all that. It is possible to drag and drop. That is mentioned later on in the thread.
