Saving morph dials of DS character
Hello all,
I've successfully imported a Poser figure from Poser into Daz with all of the morph dial working, however whenever I try to pose it it... shears. That's the best word for it. The body part breaks and shears off and kind of smears perpendicular to it. Active pose or dial, the result is the same. I have a Daz version of the figure without the morphs (the morph preset was Poser only, thus my condundrum). Is there a way for me to save all the morph options from this figure so that the DS version (which does not have the shearing issue) can use them?
When I try to save it as a morph asset I get a message that I "Must save the Figure/Node assets before you can save the morph asset(s)" which I have no idea what they're talking about.
Thank you!

I think that means that the figure must be saved into your library as a .duf file before attempting to save the morphs. But I'm not sure.
Sounds like STAR or one of the HiveWire figures, the Poser version isn't compatible with DS as it can't use some of the Poser rigging, that's why it shears when you try to bend it.
Morph Asset is for saving the morph delta data from a modified mesh for DS native figures.
Assuming the morphs exist in both DS and Poser version, and that it's not a custom morph set that's Poser only, then try applying the preset to the DS version of the figure. If the morphs have the same internal names then the settings should be applied.
Like what Bejaymac has said, if the figure uses Poser weight mapping (and most of the modern Poser figures like Star and Roxie do), then what you are experiencing is exactly the effect I would expect. The figure imports ok, but goes mad when you try and pose it.
I have a tutorial for doing the conversion of pmd to DS data morphs: http://www.mediafire.com/view/w31lg0rpmdr5ogc/PMDInjectionToDazStudioMorphMorphLoaderPro.pdf
It is for an older DS version - the property editor has moved. I made a tutorial here - but the pictures have gone missing - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/906991/#Comment_906991
Thanks for all the replies, guys!
I was afraid that this would have to be the solution (making individual morph OBJs per morph). It's certainly better than nothing, but it's a shame there isn't an import feature! Hohum.
