Moved to Technical Help as it is not a Daz Studio application issue.
Genesis and Genesis 9 do not share data, so it is very unlikely that uninstalling Genesis 9 would help with the Genesis issue. That is even more true of add-ons, which again have their own data folders. It would be better to describe the issue you are having in more detail (and why you think Genesis 9 might be the cause). Of course you can unisntall Genseis 9 and its content, using the same tool as used to install.
I want to know this also. I don't like the new Genesis 9, and everything I have is for g3 and g8. Genesis 9 is too convoluted to use. There is no basic figure like in previous versions. I can't find the basic figure and the only thing it gave me in this new update is characters. I want to create my own but there is no Genesis 9 Base [Female/Male] actor. The only Base g9 available is an anime figure which is what I don't want. I don't see why there can't be just one male and female model that works with everything. This would make much more sense and make it easier on the users. It would also drive more users to Daz if it was that easy to use.
There is a dial for male and a dial for female. Work from that
Just to second this point, I mean come on, dial out the figure you load in and dial in male or female base, and youre away! - G9 probably does take a bit more minor fiddling but its a much more 'pro workflow' ready figure and these things move forward all the time, it has to change to keep up and G9 has done so accordingly - the small amount of fiddling yield much more versatility and customisation potential with wearables and the bone structure is in keeping with industry standards. I hope this helps you, but nonetheless I'm sure G8 will be supported for a long time, just new product creation for the figure will die out eventually and is already phasing out - its a fair amount of extra work to offer true like-for-like shapes for G8 on a new character since the G9 vertex order is different to G8 so the entire process has to be repeated to truly make an actual like for like version of the same figure. In other words, these things can't help but move on with current DCCs (software that makes the products - 'Digital Content Creation [software]')
