Curious about values for settings objects when calling actions

I'm wondering if there's a way to avoid showing a window when scripting actions.  When checking out the documentation for dzaction the triggerWithSettings method sit there, tantalizing yet unavailable, for the documentation of the actions available is so scant, and in the case of DzNewIKChainAction, not even listed.  Is there a way to tell if a given action will use a settings object and if so what parameters?  I have seen some parameters listed for various actions in release notes, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
