Final render ends up 91x91

After my scene has rendered in iRay and I go to the file it ends up 91x91. I can't find any setting that makes this happen. Any help will be appreciated!!

91x91 is the size of the scene thumbnail. Are you sure you're looking at the right place for your render?

Isn't that just the thumbnail of it? If the filename has an "png_icon" part, then it's not the acual render, only its thumbnail. Look for the file without the "png_icon" part in it.

  • File>Save saves the scene, with a 91 pixel thumbnail. File>Save Last Render saves the render, or you can use the save button under the render window.

I use the save button in the render window. The format is png but it doesn't have "icon" in the name. I'll try to provide a screen capture after I get my grandkids off the bus.
thank you all for your ideas!

  • Ah, the Render Library creates a thumbnail if you save to a folder it is monitoring - you should have both the 91 pixel PNG thumbnail and the full image, in whatever format you chose.

I just did a render and it some how has "icon" in the name and it is 91x79. I don't have a 2d image just the one. I have no clue how this can happen with the settings I have in the render settings mode - how does it add the icon to the file? Should I put the image in a different folder the duf file?

    Added:

I did find one image that rendered the correct way in one version of this project - I will open the file and see if I can tell what's different about that file. Is there something I should be looking for?

  • I'm confused - are you rendering to a file or to a window and saving? If you are using the button in the render window that will, by default, go to a render Library folder and create both the icon file and the actual render - but only when you tell it to by clicking Save.

I hit the save button in the window that has the render should I do it differently I'm only getting the icon.

A lot of this depends on exactly what you mean by "go to the file" — you seem to be finding the Render Library's auto-generated thumbnails instead of the actual saved full-size images. I've never used the Render Library, so I've never needed to worry about the weird way it generates thumbnails. I always use "Save Last Render" from the File menu, so I always know exactly which folder I've just saved my render into.

Great info - never saw this option!!! I'll try it now but it will take some time since it's iRay.
    Thank you so much!!!

If you look at the "Image Path" drop down in the General Tab of the Render settings window, you can specify the folder for your renders.

    Glad to help.

Just remember, though, that this save function has options as well — it isn't like the everything-automated saving of the Render Library. You can select where to save your render, and which image format to save it into. Not all image formats are created equal, so be aware of what you're doing before you go click-click-on-to-something-else.
