How to parent a spine to a different figure...

I have a spine that I'm having trouble parenting/conforming to a character.

I'm going through my old m4 chars and revampign them in genesis.

One of them has this thing which is for V4.

There it is unparented, unconformed. It only looks right in the T Pose though.

I used to conform it to M4 which caused some mild issues but would at least follow the bends of the spine.

Of course since it's Genesis, it warps like this when conformed:

But when parented to the chest (where else is it going to go. Tried hip too, same issue) it doesn't bent with the body of course:

Only part of it

so..is there anything I can do?

? did you try the transfer utility to rig it to Genesis? There's an extra bone in the middle - 2 abdomens.

    I didn't. I don't know how to do that D:
    And I'm using Poser.

Is the spine a conforming figure or a prop?  If it is a conformer, what figure is it rigged for?  When you parent the spine to the figure, do you have "follow the bends of the parent" checked in the paarent to pop up?

If you need the spine to conform to the figure, try taking the obj file into the set up room and rigging it for the figure you want it to conform to.  After you rig it, you can take it into the fitting room and add any other morphs to it from the original figure.

AFAIK you can't rig "clothing" in Poser for the Genesis clan ... it's a D/S thing.

The spine is legacy rigged for V4.  It can easily be rigged for M4.  The OP has Pro so he has the option of legacy or WM rigging.

    The desired figure is Genesis.

It depends which version the OP is using.  The original version of the product was created for V4 and is legacy rigged.  There is a G3F/V7 version as well.  The problem is, the OP is using Poser.  The solution with the least amount of hair pulling is to parent the spine to the figure and make sure inherit bends of the parent is checked in the pop up.  The spine should follow the bends of the figures torso.  The render may require some post work.

Hellfish Studios has More Than Human over at the RMP.  It has Genesis 2 M and F versions and M4 and V4 versions.  It has a similar cyborg spine.
