Can't Believe My Own Stupidity

Like an idiot, I bought the annual PC+ subscription as it was on sale and it didn't look to me like the 3 month option was discounted. Nevertheless, I then sat back and waited for all the good stuff to start appearing at my kind of prices.
What I did not think of was that I don't use IRay (Mac computer with a not-so-powerful GPU). I don't use G3F (can't see the point when G2F seems perfectly good for my needs). And I don't do fantasy - not medieval, not Sci-Fi, not horror. So my subscription will probably never pay for itself becuase, so far, those categories which are of no interest to me have made up the bulk of the sales.
As I said - my own fault. How did I not see that coming?

If nothing else, there's still weekly and monthly freebies and over the course of that one year subscription there's bound to be something that fits your taste. If it will be enough items to "pay back the membership" so to speak, remains to be seen, but it will hardly be completely wasted.
Or why not broaden your horizon? Participate in some of all the contests/challenges here on the forum and branch out from the comfort zone. You might find it very enjoyable. I know I sure do.
LOL - I don't even save my work so that I can look at it later so contests and challenges are way, way out of my comfort zone. I have fun composing stories in pictures but all the fun is in the creating, not in the viewing afterwards.
These stories are contemporary scenes. Some are adult in nature, others are more family oriented but they keep my imagination busy. That's important as I'm retired and need to keep my mind active with a creative hobby. I find all this Warrior Queen fantasy stuff a big turn off but I understand why others direct their imagination in those directions.
I think the point of the grumble was that I was hoping some of the G2F/G2M content that I don't yet have might become available at a decent discount. I guess it will, over the coming year but whether the PC+ subscription will increase that discount is another question. I'd also like to see more contemporary interiors. JT's gothic stuff is fantastic - I'm in awe of his talent but, unfortunately, I have no use for gothic.
PC+ membership discounts COUNTLESS items. If you actually buy those items, you can easily make back the cost of membership.
Like, right now Ancient Greek Boat is 1/2 off, from $16.95 to $8.48. With PC+, it's down to... $.79. That's $7.69 saved right there.
Looking at my wishlist, on a single page I see 60 other items, all with similar savings. NONE of them are G3F or Iray. Heck, half of the items are for Genesis (generally hairstyles) or unrelated to figures (rooms, props, animals).
Now, sure, what you are specifically interested in might not be well-represented, but I can tell you, if I have money to spend, PC+ really pays for itself.
Oh, and about an hour ago I got Bryce 7 Pro and saved $14. (PC+ price plus PC+ coupon)
The point of the PC+ membership is to reduce the total cost of ownership when it comes to purchasing items. There are plenty of G2F items that are PC+ or DO in which you'll receive a massive discount. And that's not even counting the coupons.
Therefore, if you see yourself purchasing a lot of items, then the PC+ membership is definitely worth it.
Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places then. I get an email every day with a list of offers and they all seem to be what I described above. It will be interesting to dig a little deeper.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I might splash out with a coupon :D
Also bear in mind that PC+ gives you an automatic 30% off Daz originals (40% during the PC+ anniversary) this increases to something like 60%+ when the items in question are in a days "select" sale items. Always worth loading up your wishlist and checking it daily :)
I'm starting to see where the term DAZaholic comes from! I can see myself checking for bargains every day.
One thing to try is sort the store from lowest price to highest price, and start wishlisting all the items that intrigue you to sort through later.
A lot of older content is still pretty spiffy, and with PC+ it's often discounted from a couple of bucks to $1.50 or so.
Specifically, updating shaders to some of the better, more recent 3DL stuff (Uber, Omni, etc), or replacing with things like metal/fabric/etc shader packs can take ... well, heck, you can take a simple cube and turn it into a banged up metal box or whatever, if you do it right.
And right now, during the PC+ sale some of it is just $0.79...so keep that in mind, too.
Yeah, it's killing me that I don't have budget for this stuff right now. ALL THAT STUFF
Eh, I'm a Poser only user and I don't use Genesis at all, but even I can find a few items to justify the membership! For a few months anyway :3
Well, look at it this way... Had you not spent that money on the subscription, there is 92.765% chance that you might have been inclined to purchase a novelty Garfield backscratcher which you would have seen on sale on Amazon... But after receiving it you would have realized it was a pretty dumb purchase and you should not shop online in conjunction with recreational drinking... But despite you hating it, your close but slightly nutty friend would see it and offer you ten dollars for it... Almost twice what it was worth and despite the fact you didn't feel comfortable charging him/her more than you paid, you felt it sorta made up for all the mooching they have done over time, so you just accepted it and later that day with the cash in your pocket you decided to buy a small pack of sriracha beef jerky that you saw a Sasquatch chewing on near the bus stop by work, so you stopped into the nearest convenience store and along with what turned out to be horribly nasty hot dried horse meat, you purchased a lottery ticket... The very next day you found out you won 36 million dollars... Ecstatic, you quit your day job, your night job and late afternoon job and ran off to Las Vagas, where after two weeks of gambling, drinking and assorted debauchery you stumbled out of a illegal after hours petting zoo and in a drunken haze, wandered into a 24 hour Lamborghini dealership and purchased an custom lime green Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder with a custom purple penguin leather interior... eager to test drive it and high on the smell of the penguin leather, you floored the accelerator and launched the Huracán straight through the showroom window and into a parked truck full illegal fireworks and propane cylinders.... The ensuing conflagration and fireworks spectacular, burns down the brand new but unoccupied orphanage across the street... The press paints you as an orphan hunting maniac with a taste for penguin flesh... Back in your hometown you are vilified and your surviving kin change their last name to avoid be associated with your dark legacy.... Or in relation to the smaller possibility... you saved the money and used it on a fun night out.
Either way, although these scenarios are based on preexisting cases within parallel universes, I think you dodged a bullet there... You should be happy.
Uncanny: my life in a nutshell. Are you stalking me?
No, but the Sasquatch with the beef jerky is actually an Abrillian who was sent to monitor some of the other yous... I happened to read his blog.
