Since we've been on a opensource kick... How 'bout Krita?

So while I love my opensource alternatives I've never been a big GIMP fan, its too much just a clunkier clone of photoshop, and at that point I'll just use good old cs2. But recently I was inspired to try the newest version of Krita, and I am in love!

Mainly I am in love with 2 features that in fact aren't in photoshop.

Number one: line smothing, there is a 3rd party plugin for ps, but having it right in your main screen is so much easier, in krita the same tab also can be used to snap to guides for things like perspective.

Number 2: symmetry, not just mirroing but across multiple angles for fantastic snowflakey things.

Number 3 (no one expects the spanish inquisition): Wrap around mode. Do you like tiling textures? I like tiling textures. Would you like to be able to paint them without ever having to worry about borders again? Just press w and cry at the beauty before you.

Get it here!

Look at the fun thingy I made (its tiling and was made with 1 brushstroke!)

Yeah, I've mentioned Krita in a few places.  I use Corel Painter, my one true painting love, but it's always nice to see what else comes out these days.

Yeah, thanks I was reading something yesterday and I came across that name and forgot to check into it... I'm going there now... BTW... 3- I was expecting the Spanish Inquisition, just not the comfy chair.

  • NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!  Our chief weapon is surprise!  Surprise and fear. Our two chief weapons are surprise, fear, and a ruthless efficiency!
