New computer; Tips for installing DS 4.8?

I have a new computer, running windows 7 pro.

Is there anything I should know to install DS 4.8 and get the most with this OS, and avoid problems.?

For example, is it best to go with DS into the program files, or another location... even an external hard drive.?

Likewise for the DS runtime?

    Yes, let DS install to the Program Files (default).

    The content should NEVER be put into Program Files, so it's default location in your Documents folder is fine, but it can be moved (if using the DIM to install, both it and Studio itself need to be reset to the new location), even to an  external drive.

    For best results, install DS and all your content through DIM. You need to install DIM and Daz Studio on your main hard drive. You can save all your content on a secondary drive to take up less room on your main. Just add the library to DS and set those locations you want to download to in DIM.
