male counterpart to Skyler and Ryan?

Does anybody know if there will be a male counterpart to Skyler and Rayn?

I think that would first require the release of Genesis 3 Male, which we're still waiting for...

We have Gen2 versions of both girls.

While waiting, you could maybe use this? http://www.daz3d.com/growing-up-for-genesis-2-male-s-m6

The PA who did them does far more girls than boys though.

  • Maybe you can use Axel for Dusk? Made by 3DUniverse, you can find him at Hivewire

With the exception of Sam, the male counterpart to Sadie, I'm not a fan of 3D Universe male characters.  I've got Kimberly, but not Konrad, for example.  As for having a male partner to Rayn and Skyler, do you want the shape or a complete package with textures and hair, too?  As stated above, you could get something similar with Genesis Evolution morphs and Growing Up for Genesis.  However, it appears to me that the facial sculpts used for Rayn and Skyler are beyond what's possible with available morph sets, unless you already own male characters that have similar features.  Brody might be an option for you to consider.

The face can be sculpted in other software, but not everyone has the knowledge for that kind of work.  And then there's the issue with matching textures and materials such that the characters can be used together in the same scene.  Nevertheless, I took it as a personal challenge to throw together a male morph that somewhat resembles Rayn.  I'm not too fond of the lack of bridge depth on Rayn's nose, but it's obviously a stylized character morph.  So, on my morph I didn't take it to quite the same extreme, and my available texture sets weren't designed for that kind of nose bridge.

Thank you!  I could give away the morph as a freebie, but it would require Growing Up for Genesis and Genesis Evolution Morph Bundle products to look right.  Also, I'd probably nitpick over my topology some more before doing an ERC freeze and saving out the shape preset.  But if there's any interest...

Edit:  You can check out my first freebie here - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/63750/custom-morph-jayson-for-genesis

Slightly off topic, but I have been surprised at how well these two products seemed to have sold. Not because they are not good, because they are, but because the usual wisdom says that kid models do not sell. Whilst I am not party to any sales data, both Skyler and now Ryan spent a long time in the "What's Hot" section, when many new products drop out of this area after a day or two. Ryan is still in the "What's Hot" despite currently offering no discount at all on the base price.

Whether male counterparts would sell as well is open to question, particularly due to that other piece of convential "wisdom", that males do not sell.

Sure!  I'm working on a Pumpkinhead for something Halloween/videogame related today, but I'll get back to this after finishing that little project.

I think part of it might have been that dialling in small amounts made for some interesting variations with the G3F figures.

Maybe, but you would not need Ryan and Skyler to do that, as the morphs are very similar. Having said that, the textures are also useful for knocking a few years off an adult character, and quite different from most other G3F skins (most of which have plucked eyebrows, which has become something of a standard an adult female characters).
