Getting Retro Space Suit To Function For Iray...

I was assuming Retro Space Suit would work in Iray, given that the promotional images were rendered in it. I'm trying to do a poster for a friend's stage production of 'Return To the Forbidden Planet' and figured placing Ryder in this costume and rendering it in Iray would be a decent likeness to recreate something similar to this:

But apparently not! I was beginning to think it was a Ryder-specific issue (which seemed peculiar, as teh cahracter is sold with it in a bundle), yet I dialled out Ryder's body to basic G2M and the problem persists... In 3Delight, it renders fine, but in Iray, large parts of skin are intersecting through the suit. It required a lot of experimenting in the adjustment settings to try and fix this, but it seemed impossible to get it looking right from both front and back angles.
As an experiment, I tried loading up basic Michael 6 and applying the suit, but the same problem happens in Iray rendering. It looks like a dead ringer for the look I'd like to achieve, but Iray seems to be having an effect on the costume which 3Delight isn't (and the issue isn't showing in the viewport beforehand).
Does anyone have this costume and know why Iray is causing this? Never encountered this before!

If you're getting poke-through in the render but not in the viewport it's most certianly displacement. Make the outfit sub-d, set the render level to like 3, then go to the surface tab, switch the surfaces to iray uber using control-click with the free shader preset Daz gave us, then set the sub devision level on the surfaces to 3 also.
I'm just guessing, I don't have that outfit.. but that's the most likely issue.
Can't seem to set the suit to higher than sub-division 2 (I'm altering the value through the 'parameters' tab), but followed the technique with it you describe and it didn't seem to change anything.
Just remembered I have some poke-through eradication morphs, though... Good thing you used that term to remind me! :) I'll try to experiment with some of those in the morning. Just seems very strange for the texture expansions to largely be promoted with Iray images, yet for Iray to have such problems with basic renders of the product!
You need to turn on show hidden properies in the corner pull down for the parameters tab to see the render resolution, and click on the slider gear and turn off limits to get it higher than 2. Render may automatically go to 3 if you set preview to 2.
But yeah, that's weird.
When I load the outfit onto Scott 6, the suit, gloves and boots have subdivision level is set to 1 and smoothing modifier enabled on each piece, though with different smoothing and collision iteration values. With the smoothing modifier enabled, I didn't get any of him poking through the suit in the view port. The issue I did have was the hand poking through the gloves and a tiny spot near his right knee when rendered. Since adjusting the smoothing and collision iteration settings wasn't resolving the poke through, it was easier to address poke though by hiding the offending body parts, either from the scene and/or parameter tab before rendering.
Just couldn't figure out how to satisfyingly fix it with any other method... If the poke-through showed up in the viewport, I could have used morphs, but it wasn't (presumably because it's fine in 3Delight). I did as you said, Lindsey and simply made the relevant body part invisible. That seemed to work like a charm, considering only his head and neck is really viewable!
