I don't suppose you've been given a timeframe for it from Nvidia?
I admit, all the unusual (or at least unusual for where I live animals), don't hold a candle to cat or dog. I don't tend to render animals at all, but I would use cat and dog a lot in my renders. I'm really somewhat surprised cat and dog 2 haven't been made.
It is nice to have unusual animals. But cats and dogs I would actually use.. Especailly the cats around halloween. DAZ's business decisions... Are always unfathonable to me.
I agree with Serene Night, normal animals are far more useful when the focus of the render is not the animal itself. A typical urban or indoor scene could easily include some cats or dogs in the background, but its not often you see a tiger or a polar bear walking on the street.
Where the main focus is the animal, then assuming you want to render something different from the crowd, then I guess the more unusual the animal the better, or perhaps more important, the cuter the animal the better, hence why Koala bears etc would make a good subject.
The new figure will be bought today. I buy everyone by Alessandro_AM as they are the best I have ever seen.
following Alessandron_AM's excellent tutorial on how to convert his fur/hair products with his Look At My Hair plugin so they can be rendered in iray here is my 3delight and iray renders of his koala
