I have a few runtimes on exterior drives and don't have a problem with DS finding them.
I have found that even if the location is mapped, I can lose the mapping if I start DS with the HD disabled or turned off.
Until DS 7.8 I've never had a problem running DS with multiple libraries on multiple drives, either internal or extrenal. That said, I'm currently fighting really slow delete and autofit times that seem to be an artifact of the new CMS, as it seems to have a lot more trouble with duplicate files than the older versions.
Nope. No problem at all. I'm doing the same thing. Only thing is; I found out that it is simply not good enough to copy the content files over from your system drive (where DS is located) to the new external drive. You will need to uninstall them and reinstall them if u want everything to be "right." However, in order to do that you will need to reconfigure DIM to handle all this and future d/l installs, etc in the future. DIM will need to be pointed to the new drive, and you will also need to adjust some setting in DS: edit>preferences>contentlibrary>contentdirectorymanager.
thank you i use to have all my 3d software on one harddrive but when one thing would render it sounded like a jet taking off
LOL , i removed alot of them to make space i was thinking of just putting only daz studio and things back on the main hard drive
but i think it may just try the ex hard drive the way everyone else is doing it ,
thank you for all your help
I go one step further with DS installed on my computer and my content runtime(s) on a server raid. Automatic tripple backup, baby.
